Windows 7 is good for people who are fade up with Vista. Many people tried vista and where angry on the slowness of the OS. Steve Ballmer in one of his interviews also admitted that vista was had some flaws. Working with Microsoft I had complaints with Vista regarding its performance and its frequent crashing. I never used Vista as I was happy with XP. I recently I installed Win 7 64bit ultimate on my new computer after testing the evaluation version. I installed Office 2007 as well and they work well together. With the new security application Microsoft Security Essentials I feel my computer secured. The major problem with Vista was the User Access Control which was newly implemented and 3rd party security applications like Norton, MacAfee, messed up big time. Microsoft Live OneCare was not up to the mark. One may notice problem with old hardware and software as they are hard blocked by Microsoft. Good for new computers.
Windows 7 does provide the option same like windows vista(run an administrator) but I would suggest people to create a standard user for day to day life uses. We do not require admin rights to write documents, play music, . etc. Although run as administrator has some flaws that you would notice when installing add-on for program. For example one could install Google talk without admin rights but if you run the program as administrator one would not view Google talk on once user but would be installed on the admin account. Other than Windows 7 is far better than windows vista. Windows 7 is promoted as performance of XP with looks of Vista and it seems to be true to me.
Some of the bugs of Windows Vista are still not fixed in windows 7. For example if you look in contacts folder in details view anniversaries are not viewed. Windows mail flaws were removed by completely eliminating windows mail. It helped Microsoft to decrease support costs as well. Now you have windows live mail which can be downloaded as standalone or with Live essentials. The support for the product is only through forums.
New looks of windows 7 could be a trouble but one would get used it easily. Have to patient for a few days. Dont look for the classic view all of a sudden. Try the new look.
Microsoft Windows 7 is a good product as a whole and by eliminating products which had flaws have helped decrease support costs. The overall cost for the product is high but worth it.
