Oil Prices Again

We are again on the threshhold of another extreme Fuel Hike in our country. It would be interesting to note that any Government coming to the Centre attacks the Oil Prices as a priority.

This has been going on since ages and at the rate it is moving it would be going on forever. The hike proposed in Mumbai by the Centre would be between Rs 7 -Rs 8/ Litre for Petrol. Add to this the local taxes and the much dreaded (for the Mumbaikars) and the much loved (for the Government of Maharshtra) Octroi. This would end to a nett hike of Rs 12- Rs 13/ per litre in Mumbai.

Has anyone wondered that why is that Mumbaikars have to pay for fuel much more than any part of India? Is this the penalty for being the largest contributor to the Indian exchequer? Mumbaikars need to take this matter up with the Government and for this it has to be done on a joint association basis and not on one to one basis. The way Mumbaikars joined hands to fight the atrocities of 22/7, it is about time that the State Government gets a taste of Mumbaikars jointly protesting against this unjust practice.

As to the Crude Oil Prices which have been rising world over, but only in India the matter is so stringent. Why does the government not remove all kind of duties and additional taxes from Crude Imported Oil? After all the Oil Sector is still to a certain extent in the hands of the Government and if done so, the prices would positively come down considerably. The second option being that why is the Oil Secotr not palced directly in the portfolio of the President. This would definately reduce the amount of kickbacks our ministers, under secretaries get from the Oil Companies.

On the whole if the Oil Import is properly Channelised then it is assured that even in this time of high Crude Prices, the Fuel Prices in India would reduce considerably.

It is about time that the youth of India join hands to know about what is the matter in the Oil Sector and the youth of Mumbai, need to just pressurise the Government in Maharashtra for the abolishment of Octroi in the state, and ask the Government to get the Oil Prices at par with other states in India.
