To review a song, I have to keep 3 things in mind - in the given order.
Firstly, the tune - and hence related with the instruments used, the bgms, the prelude to the song, the interludes and other related material
Secondly, the lyrics -
Matters much, but its again the tune which really cements a song in ones singing world
Thirdly, the video -
Doesnt matter much, but some songs we inadvertently link the song with the video adding that little something to the grandeur
I Azhagiya theeye - This song falls in a category of 4 months from the release
Didnt get it?
Goes something like this - This song plays like 10 times everyday in a tv channel during the initial 4 months from release and later dies down...
Many reasons - Nothing special which can rank the status of a song as a classic
U really wouldnt prefer this song over some other similar song released recently
Rating - 7/10
II VASEEGARA - Wow..
Till now while listening to the songs, I could hear my mom talking over the phone, my dog barking, an auto going past on the main road..
But hey... There is a sudden transition of myself to a SEVENTH HEAVEN.
Where I see myself floating in essence of the song! I can see the notes dancing around me and making me dance too!
Every single chord strummed, every single bass effects by the synth - I can feel a shiver up and down my spine!
Flute intro, and if u listen to it quite closely - there is a very slight keyboard effect based on the chords for every 4 notes and it is sustained.
When the singing starts, this stops momentarily and continues. I can hear some bass effects which repeats till I hear the intro music again after the start
First stanza starts after the flute intro is played again - also giving effects like thunder and rain drops which splat against the ground
Well this section is completely chord driven. After every line u would find 2 more chords which would complete a cycle and hence repeat throughout the stanza.
During the line sila samayam vilaiyaataay...... there is a flute which accompanies and hence back to square one.
Note the variation in the beats before the start of the second stanza
Also the flute prelude to the stanza changes, later there is some chorus singing to the same tune.
String effects just before the start of second stanza - MASTERPIECE again..
The second stanza ends brilliantly with the line kaadhelunum mudiviniyil......
Just after this line - the intensity of singing and effect goes up a notch and listen closely to bombay jayshree elegantly dragging the word vaseeeeegara
Bombay jayshee is brilliant - giving her a unique voice to identify with.
Harris Jeyraj - Even if u name a galaxy after him, the song will outdo the beauty of the stars
Rating - Well - Even if a give (1million/10) that would be less.
This song has to be my GREATEST MUSICAL PIECE EVER.
III Ivan Yaro - Wait.. have I come back to my living room?
Ohh.. yes! After listening to it VASEEGARA 12, 756 times, I finally decide to listen to the rest of the songs
This song is in the same category as that of azhagiya theeye!
Please let me re-iterate, this song is pretty decent.. but only for that time
Rating - 7/10
IV Venmathiye - Wait a min...Have I gone back to my floating world?
Certainly not to my seventh heaven created by vaseegara... then where am i?
Somewhere in between I guess, also with a mixture of feelings
I definitely have to bring the third factor - video capture. Madhavan just epitomizes the role and creates a new dimension for the song. I mean the trauma he faces in the movie, brilliantly gels with the song
The lyrics - Oh boy!!!!!! Simple yet, the apt lyrics for this situation which blends with the MASTERPIECE - My god.. am I still floating?
After the line Kodi pookalai malarndathu maname.... - Roopkumar rathod again elegantly gives a light stretch to the word maname
Rating - 9.9/10
V Ore Nyabagam - Devan and his unique voice - Slight acoustic strumming and after the first stanza, a few extra effects with keyboard and a chorus for a word or two really adds that extra little to the grandeur.
2 min song, small, beautiful and wonderful
Rating - 9/10
VI Oh Mama - Again - 4 months?.. 5 months?.. well I would say.. it should be even lesser than that
Didnt like the https://lyrics.. and the start where u hear something like ....... theru koothu
and it continues - come on man!... doesnt it seem like just another ok song?
