Very Good Movie (Updated)

Mohabbatein- Its 3 hrs. 36 mins. long, but worth a watch.

It’s about a very stubborn father, Narayan Shankar, played by Amitabh Bacchan who is the principal of Gurukul. He believes that Love is just another name of pain. And when he finds out that his very own daughter, Megha (Aishwarya Rai) falls in love with Raj Malhotra, a student of Gurukul, he gets very annoyed as the boy went against the rules of Gurukul. The next day he expells the boy from Gurukul and literally spoils his life. Unable to bear with her father’s decision, Megha commits suicide.

The story then continues to show how Raj Malhotra comes back to Gurukul with the name of Raj Aryan, a music teacher and a messenger of Love in disguise.

After that, the movie proceeds to show how Raj helps 3 students to confess their love for their girlfriends.

The story is pretty good and original. The songs too are good enough but have the typical Jatin-Lalit rhythm in a few. The youngsters come out well but the camera focusses on them for quite along time- more than it was on Amitabh and ShahRukh. The cinematography is good, though.

The main thing to watch in the movie are the confrontations between Amitabh and Shahrukh. The dialogues are superb. Some of the scenes really trap you emotionally.

Aishwarya Rai is a bit wasted with her ghostly appearances. But adds a bit of spice to the movie.

Anupam Kher and Archana Puran Singh are paired together as the Punjabi couple. But their comedy is a bit sick sometimes. But at others, its pretty commendable.

The costumes have been well designed for Shahrukh and Amitabh by Karan Johar. Shahrukh and Amitabh make a great comeback with this movie.

Manish Malhotra ran out of material for the young girls and didn’t even spare Archana Puran Singh.

All-in-all, a very complete movie.

P.S: This is one of those movies in which ALL the actors have played roles relating to their age
