Alas! the director had one of the greatest opportunity to give us the most memorable movie of our times but has failed miserably. Why can, t we produce a movie without bollywood songs & dance? Looks like AG’s only concern was to give a hit movie, so he has used all the ingridients a typical masala movie should have.Here he has taken inspiration from Game of Thrones, Benhur, Troy, Bahubali. Gladiator & many others.
Second half of the movie has been much better as we get to watch one of the best visuals of a storm, reminding us of the greatest movie ever produced i.e.The Ten Commandments, this gives us insight of a talent of a director to give us a greatest epic movie.Here we get to see how the director has wasted his talent by inserting unsituational song & belly dance.
As for history or story you are looking for, there is hardly any. The clothes worn by various characters may open up a new line fashion, an opportunity garment manufacturers can’t resist.
The story as the name suggests, revolves around an ancient city of Mohanjo Daro, situated near river Indus. Our hero Samran(Hrithik Roshan) wishes to go to this forbidden land to unravel the mystries surrounded over it, meanwhile our hero dreams of one horned deer and a mysterious tune.Then we get to see which is seen in every second movie in bollywood i.e a boy meeting a girl, the girl not giving in, then the same old boy-girl chase & finally girl giving in as usual.
in one scene we have hero(Hrithik Roshan) romancing with heroine Chaani(pooja Hegde) & in other we have him entangled with aligator to rescue the Villagers, yet in other we have him rescuing villagrs from the clutches of headman Mohan(Kabir Bedi) & his evil son, Munga(Arunoday Singh) Then we have him in amphitheatre fighting against wwf meneaters to proove that in bollywood hero is just unbeatable.
To conclude Ashutosh Gowarikar had one of the best opportunity to give us a great period movie which he has always specilized in his previous movies & proved his mantle be it Lagaan or Jodha Akbar. Hrithik as always has tried to give us his best & has been quite succesful in doing so, though the plot is very weak, Pooja’s first film so can’t be blamed for just being in the film. the film would have been much better without a love story, it is time bollywood stopped using heroines for their skin.
Must watch Hrithik fans & if you don’t have anything to watch.
