I had availed the moneycontrol pro subscription in a scheme for Rs 365 in the month of May last year. I was not informed of any auto renewal. the receipt received did not have any mention of auto renewal. it just said the same was for 1 year.
this month moneycontrol auto-renewed the subscription and billed by credit card Rs. 999, without seeking any consent from me at all.
How did they assume that I want to renew their app? do they think they are as popular as netflix? ! when did they sneek in this auto renewal clause.beacuse I do not remember seeing this at all!
actually I have not used their pro app at all, the information is any way avaliable for free and hardly any articles are for pro subscription and that too of poor quality, which I have not even read. to add salt to the bad subscription of last year they bill me 3 times the amount for auto renewal. I was allegedly required to stop the subscription.
i wonder how these app are allowed to just have auto renewal debit mandates, what is the regulator doing? this is likely to dissaude users from using digital payments, because the sites will give cappy stuff and continue to fleece unsuspecting customers.
and when I am trying to call them, they have no contact nos, just a chat, which registers a ticket and no repsonse is ever rec’d.
