This review is not about Monginis in general as everybody knows about the brand, its more about their franchisee store in Ponda Goa.
In short, Monginis is a well known brand in bakery products & cakes. They have franchisee stores across few states. In Goa, they have stores almost all major cities and towns and the main factory outlet is at Verna Industrial estate.
One of their such store is at Ponda Goa, which is one of the fastest growing towns in Goa. The store is located opposite Dada Vaidya chowk(a small bay kind of area which has the statue of Dr. Dada Vaidya, a famous Goan personality). There is tremendous parking problems around this place. If you are lucky you would find a place right opposite this store, else you may have to hunt for one.(Recently another store has opened at Upper Bazar - the review does not cover that store)
*The store** is located in a tiny shop next to a Rajastani Sweetmart. The store is run by a couple who also takes orders for event organizing, mostly birthday parties, which includes hall decorations, music, party entertainment, compering, magic show, games, activities and of course the Birthday cake!
The name is synonyms for birthday cake, in Ponda and surrounding areas as there are no other market players - hence no competition and people always buy birthday cakes from here.
As a standard in all stores, they also offer veg/mushroom/chicken patties, prawn puffs, variety of pastries and both egg-less and with-egg delicious cakes. There are special designs available for cakes which are refreshed keeping in mind, the changing attractions especially among kids - like cartoon characters like *chota bheem*, various barbies, cars, and so on. Any special cake needs should be made ordered at least 1/2 days in advance to make sure you get them in time.
*Rates** are about 500-800 per KG depending on your choice of cream etc. The shop will take about Rs.100-200 as advance and the cake usually arrive by 4:00 pm in their store.
*Overall**, the service is good, if you are around Ponda and feel hungry and have a crave for any of the above food items, you can always drop in by this small outlet. Please note, this is a take-away place and hence there are no sitting arrangements here, also to add, mostly the place is crowded.
