I had a great time at this movie! It made me laugh out loud. I highly recommend it to anyone between the ages of 0 and 120. (give or take a few years) It is Disney at its finest.
The story is about a society that consists of monsters. In order to make their city work, they need energy, which is generated by childrens screams. The two main characters work at a place called Monsters, Inc. The main function of Monsters, Inc. is to train monsters how to scare children and collect their screams.
Sully, the big blue guy is the number one scarer at Monsters, Inc. and Mike Wazowski, the one eyed green guy, is his engineer. The way this works is each child has a door. The engineers bring the doors down, like clothes in a dry cleaners. Each door is delivered to a work area where the monster creeps into the childrens bedrooms through their closets while they are sleeping and scares them. Then they capture their screams in a canister and bring it back to Monsters, Inc.
I know it sounds like a horrible idea, scaring innocent children, but believe me, the monsters are more scared of the children than the children are of the monsters.
Let me explain...
The monsters believe if they touch a child, or anything belonging to a child that they will become contaminated and destroyed. And that is how Sully meets Boo.
Boo is a little girl who Sully is supposed to scare. But when he enters her room, she is not scared. She thinks Sully is a big kitty cat. She grabs onto the back of him without him knowing it and enters his world when he returns to Monsters, Inc.
At first, Sully is scared to death of her, but eventually he realizes that she is not dangerous. The plot gets hysterical when he confides in his buddy Mike and the two of them try to hide Boo from the rest of the monsters.
Of course, like in all good movies, there is a villain and he is just as mean as the next guy. Randall is a monster that competes with Sully for the number one position and is willing to do almost anything to beat him.
I dont want to give away the whole movie, so I will leave it here. I just want to say, this is an adorable film. One that is worth the time to sit and watch.
I left the theatre saying as soon as it comes out on video, I am buying it! Its really that good.
