I have a Morphy Richard’s Induction Cooker which I am using for the last one year wich is been used regularly and still it is working and my cooking on the unit vary from south India food to north India food - roti, rice, idle etc. The key for happy cooking on Induction which I felt are-
- Utensil’s base should be thick meaning the utensil should be NOT thin. .Note- ONLY Thin Utensil’s are 90% power efficient and with a thick base will reduce the power efficiency by 9% to 15% 2. No matter from which company Induction Cooker belong to but one has to give time out to the system after 1 hour of continue cooking for about 5 min for the system life.
3. The system fan time should not be interrupted meaning the main power should be switch off but only when the fan has stop.
How the systems save money?
Well there are two types of Ele-Cookers in the market 1. Induction Cooker(which we are talking about) and 2. Radiant Cooker
Induction Cooker works through electromagnetic induction which heats the metal pots base directly. Its efficiency rate is 90% to a LPG which is 50% and the energy to boil water(2lit) is 749KJ to a LPG which is 1370KJ The way to save money by the Induction is to cook fast and for MORE saving cook 2 or 3 things at the same time in a pressure cooker. There are special stand / box for it. When cooking anything go for max power for 10 to 30 sec then when the pot is hot go to 2 to 3 power mode. NOTE- it have been seen if any thin Utensil is been use without anything it can lose its shape and will burn.
My experience till now is a happy one and I use it with LPG system so where one gas cylinder use to run for 30 day now it has twofold time line to 60days. My power bill use to come for 700 to Rs 800 now has put on some weight and comes from Rs 1000 to Rs 1200 add of Rs 400 to Rs 500 still it is less then LPG.
Only awful thing I have found is if the utensil of Induction is used on the LPG system the efficiency goes down 20% to 30% as the carbon can destroy the contact area(see picture)
I have purchased some new utensil and a pressure cooker 5 lit(see picture) for my Induction Cooker like Tawa for cooking roti’s frying pan with a glass lid etc. I got it all under Rs 2500.(see picture)
Info- Every Induction Cooker have 20 world wide error code system so if there is any code the system display you can decode it from the net.( I only received one code of error till now which was of power overload)
- Radiant - Radiant Cooker is with radiant heating coils or infrared halogen lamps as the heating elements, these also are in the market. It is best for long time cooking(ex to 3 to 4 hour) and comes with outer steel body.(I do not own this system)
I Highly Recommend Induction Cooker but with combination with LPG system
