I am writing to share my experience with Motherhood Hospital, Sarjapur, Bangalore. The life-threatening situation that patient experienced due to the negligence by Dr Sharvari Mundhe during her minor surgery and post operation treatment at Motherhood Sarjapur Bangalore.
During the surgery, Dr from Motherhood Sarjapur Road, Bangalore branch damaged the tissue near the ovary, which was the first critical error.
Post-surgery, the patient complained of severe abdominal pain and an inability to pass urine. Despite her condition, Dr was not present in the hospital. The nursing team consulted her over the phone and as per doctor order, the nurse performed a USG scan of the bladder to check the water content, but this task should have been carried out by a doctor, not a nurse. Conducting and interpreting USG scans is outside the scope of a nurse’s responsibilities and should be handled by a qualified medical professional. The Dr dismissed these symptoms as "normal, " instructing the nurses to discharge patient without a physical examination.
After being discharged, the patient condition worsened at home, and she experienced intolerable pain. We rushed her back to Motherhood Sarjapurs emergency department, where team was initially treated for gastric issues for an hour. Even during emergency the doctor who operated her not came to hospital. After 90 min scanning is performed by radiologist and detected fluid near the ovary/abdomen and advised us to transfer her to Manipal Hospital immediately to save patient life. The radiologist is not sure whether it’s blood and water..The emergency ward and treatment was Motherhood is worst.
At Manipal Hospital, it was discovered that patient had severe internal bleeding in the ovary and abodomen (around 1.5 litres of blood )and her condition was deemed critical with low BP of 60/40. She underwent an emergency surgery, which, thankfully, was successful. It was a very narrow escape. Even if delayed by another 10 min the results might have different..
This entire ordeal was a direct result of the inadequate and negligent treatment at Motherhood. We are deeply distressed by the lack of proper care and the life-threatening situation it caused. Also we end up loosing lakhs of money and gone through mental truma..
Not a good experience...
