The Motorola C300 offers that little extra for a little price. It is quite a cute phone, and if your budget is small and still want a class phone, the C300 is one of the primary candidates.I had to buy this phone for my mom, who is quite a basic user and does not understand technology that much. All she needed was a way to make and receive calls, and send messages and do some fun with it, like downloading new Ringtones and graphics. For 4, 800/-, the Motorola C300 was the perfect candidate.I always preferred Nokia phones, but for this price, all they could offer was the bulky and outdated 3310.
Display:
The Motorola C300 features a greyscale Black and White screen which can display upto four lines of text, picture graphics and small animations. The screen resoulution in 98X64.The speciality of the display is that you can change the backlight to three different colours: White, Blue or Yellow. But unfortunately the keypad remains a stubborn dark blue colour, which can create quite a flashy effect and can mismatch if you choose White or Yellow.
Other Features:
The phone has quite a respectable set of features which are pretty common nowadays, like concenacted messages, and predictive text input(iTAP as its a Motorola, not Nokias T9), EMS(you can added moving animations, picture messages and a ringtone, which is like a colourless MMS).It features a 100 name phonebook, call register, 15 voice tags and the ability to save upto 5 custom downloaded ringtones. This feature will be highly used as the inbuilt ringtones sound as if a mis-tuned band is playing. The phone also has a distribution list feature, which allows you to send one message to upto 5 people at a time. This feature comes very handy if you want your group of friends to meet at one place and dont want to message each one indivisually.
Other Information:
This phone is a dual-band phone, so it wont work in North/South America. It weighs a mere 84g(like Nokia 8310).I am not sure about the dimensions, but its a little bit bigger than the 8310, somewhere close to the Nokia 5210.The phone has only one colour available, Silver, which can be dull and boring after a while.Speed dialling is also present, and space to download picture messages and operator logos is also provided.
Cons:
When you get an incoming call, the display flashes in all the backlight colours(Yellow, Blue and White) which makes it a great pain to understand who is calling. The software also lags a little bit, and if you have been a consistent Nokia user, you will find the Motorola interface a bit hard to you and will get lost initally. But once you get used to it, its a breeze. The battery is a pain to remove!(it took me almost 10 mins when I first took it out).
Conclusion:
If you are not intrested in all the latest features, you aint going to go to the US ever, and want a chic classy mobile phone for a small amount this is one of the best phones in the market. You can also get this phone if you are just tired of using your old brand, and dont want to invest too much for a new one. This phone is a worth buy, it wont let you down, and it will make you feel good, until you see your friends Polyphonic tones ringing, that is.
