DROID *STAR*

Well after a long silence in indian market. Motorola’s bang in indian market with its new "milestone". A pretty good comeback with a device sporting an android os 2.1(eclair). Smart looks, big 3.7" capacitive touch unit, affordable price tag and great build quality and assurance of motorola( thats why i bought it ). Today’s indian market that is flooded with lots and lots of droid based phones from htc, sony ericsson, samsung and now the motorola joins the bandwagon of droids. Milestone is the best droid i’ve seen yet. Robust build quality and performance. A good touch unit (not as good as htc’s). 5megapixel camera bothers a bit on image quality as well as less camera features( video recording is average with d1 resolution). Qwerty keypad is a bit crowded and sports a 5key d-pad. No secondary video call camera.

A faster 3g. With hsdpa 10.2mbps. And of course the main thing in it. The android 2.1(eclair), a much faster and lots of other new stuffs in 2.1, but it doesn’t support live wallpapers, software download from android market is only restricted to 113mb of phone memory, but thats doesn’t make lot of difference. 2.1 is multi-touch enabled so pinch zooming is possible..and a droid digi compass. Gps is quite good, locks onto satellite in around 3 minutes. And dedicated navigation software "motonav".

A 600 mhz arm cortex a8 cpu is a faster unit. But not as fast as 1ghz snapdragon in xperia x10. Decent battery life mine worked for 2 days with just 1 charge (few sms’es, gps for few minutes, playing games for 30min, and web browsing for 30 min, watching video for an hour).. The browser doesn’t support flash content. Maybe you can get it in next droid update. 32gb xpandable memory and 8gb card included. Lots of space for all your stuffs.. Priced at around 29k in india. An affordable device with all these features (xperia x10 costs around 35k and has 4" screen with no multi touch support and a quite disappointing 65k colour resolution, well time scape ui is only a oomph! Factor.

Conclusion: well if you are a moto fan and a gadget freak and droid lover. Go for it coz its truly a "milestone"
