It has been more than one year by now since I got this mobile, I would say Im always bit choosy so, did a lot of research and analysis before I chose this.If you are not using MOTO mobiles currently, the first thing you would notice upon using this mobile is the voice reception clarity.
The difference is so obvious, MOTO has retained its legendary reception quality in this phone too... u feel as if u r talking with them in person.Said abt the voice clarity, we can explore the basic things for which a mobile phone is meant for.
The signal strength is above average (little less only to Nokia) and u have basic to very advanced call management features are in place when ever u need it. I usually do not have a good opinion abt MOTOs user interface (UI) design but this was an exception, since this model is based on Montavista linux the UI is perfect for a PDA. Remeber.
This is the slimmest PDA in the market even now. The display is good though u cant call it great u wont feel it as boon. SMS is good with all advanced features available (u can move msgs to ur personal folders and protect them with a passcode). Battery backup is fair, I charge my mobile during alternative days. Having a premium phone for review, we have been talking abt the basic features yet coz, most advanced premium phones fail with one or the other basic features but MOTO has made sure that ROKR is phone before its a PDA.
I have got the premium version with the s9 snoop, its simply awesome! Now lez jump into the advanced features, call this phone robust, really robust! though this phone lacks behind without some latest features like GPS and 3G, it has so many things packaged very compact. some strange features like Business Card Reader and Music ID works flawlessly.
U can use this device as wireless modem, webcam, browse web with its full HTML browser, Sync ur contacts with OTA, Synchronize ur outlook calender with ROKRs local calender, send and recv email with built in email client, edit pictures with built in photo editor, record sound/call with its sound recorder, open MS word, excel, powerpoint and PDF files with its viewer and what not? This mobile support advanced A2DP audio streaming for wireless bluetooth devices. Since this is Linux based, ROKR is very stable when compared to other windows based counterparts but still hosts the same features.Supports upto 2GB memory extension via SD card (though unofficially support 4GB) is ample enough.
The built in real player is slow, but lets u to manage ur music well and also capable of web streaming. The camera is decent, but performs very poor with dull lightings and also does not hav a flash. The multimedia keys along the left side of the phone are very useful and they work even when the phone is locked! same keys can be used to mute, navigate b/w stations in FM radio mode. The 3.5 mm audio output jack is one of the best multimedia feature I would say coz, it lets u to connect the device with all standard headphones/earphones and speaker systems.
The phone can be charged with the USB data cable and there is no need to switch off/remove the battery to insert or eject memory card since the memort card slot appears in the left side of the phone. We also hav a dedicated camera key to shoot stills/videos.Since this phone is Linux based u may not get s/w that easily to extend this phones features, I found the following sites as good.
