Do The Dew !

Mountain Dew(also known as MtnDew since 2009) is a soft drink distributed and manufactured by PepsiCo.

Ingredients-

Mountain Dew lists its ingredients as:

Carbonated Water, Sugar, Concentrated OrangeJuice, Citric Acid, Natural Flavours, Sodium Benzoate, Caffeine, SodiumCitrate, Erythorbic Acid( Preserves freshness), Gum Arabic, CalciumDisodium EDTA, Brominated Vegetable Oil, Yellow- 5, Thiamin Hydrochloride.

Howsoever, many of us know that soft drinks are slow poison or harmful and whatsoever many of us say that we prefer juices when thirsty, but deep inside we know our taste buds crave for soda. and that too in the form of these addictive aerated drinks.

If I start writing the pros and cons of the drink, I know the cons would be many, hence I decided not to write a revu based on pros and cons. But I am writing this one just on the basis of taste and enjoyment, i.e. relaxation to the mind and body.

Among all the cold drinks offered in the market, I would say the black ones contain some good amount of Phosphoric Acid and Lead in them, latter is labelled as Colorings from the companies and not disclosed . Google Phosphoric Acid and you would find the following:-

Phosphoric acid, used in many soft drinks(primarily cola), has been linked to lower bone density in epidemiological studies.

Food-grade phosphoric acid( labelled as E number E338) is used to acidify foods and beverages such as various colas, but not without controversy regarding its health effects. It provides atangy or sour taste and, being a mass-produced chemical, is availablecheaply and in large quantities. The low cost and bulk availability isunlike more expensive natural seasonings that give comparable flavors, such as citric acid which is obtainable from lemons and limes.

Phosphoric acid, used in many soft drinks has been linked to lower bone density in epidemiological studies. a study, using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry rather than a questionnaireabout breakage, provides reasonable evidence to support the theory thatdrinking cola results in lower bone density.

Other chemicals such as caffeine(also a significant component of popular common cola drinks) were alsosuspected as possible contributors to low bone density, due to theknown effect of caffeine on calciuria, but it has only a temporary effect, which is later reversed.

Phosphoric acid is used in dentistry as an etching solution, to clean and roughen the surfaces of teeth where dental appliances or fillings will be placed. Guess its understood what effect it may have on your system!

I am not saying that the non cola drinks are safe, since they also have a substitute called as Citric Acid, but not comparably as harmful.

My preferance thus always go to any non coloured aerated drink, if and whenever I cant resist myself to grab one. After all its better to have less poison than the other one, when you dont have a control over your tongue. In this terminology, Mountain Dew stands better than the rest. Less sugary, better in taste and freshness and comparably less harmful.

N.B. *I invite people to tear my revu apart and drop in their comments. But please notice that I have not given any particular brand names, apart my review topic. as well as I am aware of the fact that all soft drinks are in a way harmful, its just a comparison to say which is better from my point of view.
