Well, that’s it! My 100th review on Mouthshut. It has been a fruitful relationship with the site. Here I am going to jot down some of my thoughts on the site and its members. So, here’s my take on the Mouthshut Community.
The best thing I gained from Mouthshut was friends. People like Spooks, JeDI, Pooj, Anu, Farid, Prash, Cousin2, Leah, Santoz, Bhavna, Saaz ar, Satya, Sujay, Niraj, Nanda, Yamraaj, Premjit, Salil, Karthik, Rajasagar, Arunji, Sushamaji, * and of course, the very first person who trusted me- *i4net alias Rohan. All these people helped me a lot in being motivated on this site. I thank you all(and everybody whom I have inadvertently missed) for your wonderful support.
WHAT MAKES MOUTHSHUT SPECIAL
I remember that there was this katta in front of our Ruia College. All the boys and girls used to sit there and discuss about various things. Politics, Cricket, Films, Jokes, Riddles, shopping and romance.all met at the college ka katta. Whenever I think of the MS community, I remember this katta that was our second home.
So, what exactly makes Mouthshut so special?
Of course, the people! Till date, I do not see this site as a consumer forum.
It’s a discussion board.
It’s a friends’ circle.
It’s a meeting ground!
The various comments on MS reviews prove this. Mostly the comments are written with the sole intention of helping the writer in improving his writing skills, and not about the product. Some comments are made of good-humoured taunts which can only come from a friend. All in all, the comments section shows me the true spirit of Mouthshut. It’s like a huge group of friends. And this spirit is the culprit behind the Mouthshut Addiction.
Every writer expects his friends to comment on his reviews. He needs them to encourage him, or correct him!
WHAT MADE MOUTHSHUT CLICK
The need to be appreciated contributed highly to the success of the site. Everyone has a hidden desire to be lauded. And Mouthshut catered to this need. The common writer was given a major platform to hone his writing talents. Everyone wants to express, and Mouthshut came as a boon to such people.
And look at the result! We have some of the best writers on this site. As far as professional writing goes, I view Tongue_in_cheek, Eyesopen and Tribal chief at par with the best journalists. People like Achougoo, Saaz, Loofh, prem, rajasagar, Venchasa and pavithrashinde can give the best writers a run for their money. Writers like Spooks, Thumb_in_mouth, Anu, just_did_it and yamraaj can make a stone chuckle with glee. People like Cousin2, Leah, Pete, Nanda, Pooj, Santoz, Corbett, Satya, Ranjran, Cuchillo and Ruchi project absolute sincerity in every single review they have written!
Little wonder then, that Mouthshut.com clicked! It had to click with such enthusiastic members!
A SMALL NOTE FROM MADDY
On this 100th review of mine, I would sincerely like to thank each and everyone who showed me my flaws and encouraged my good points.
Looking back at my 100 reviews, I hardly find any worthwhile reviews. In these 100 reviews, hardly 25 must be on genuine products. Rest are just the wanderings of an idle mind. But it was appreciated by all my MS friends.and that is what make these 100 reviews special. Once again, thank you, all my pals!
SOME THOUGHTS
There are some distinct features about Mouthshut. Some I like.some I hate! For example, I like Member News. I hate Star Writer status. Reason? Well, simple really!
Member News brings the community together as a family. Star Writer status differentiates some members from others. One creates a bond. The other creates a wall.
Secondly, as I have time and again emphasized, Faisal needs to open new gates through this site. I really see no point in just writing the reviews, and then discussing, ribbing, abusing and quarrelling in the comments section. The next logical step should be- What can be done about the consumer grievance?
Get the things published in some papers. Let the company answer the consumer’s allegations. I have been saying this for quite some time now. I do hope that the MS management gives me some concrete answer.
ON THE OTHER HAND
On the flipside, I feel that I must also thank Mouthshut team for all their efforts to make this site what it is! Thanks, pals! But do think on my suggestion.
