All this hangama. Never a dull moment on MS. I am here for my monthly visit to read what’s on in apna Bharat and realized I missed much fun here.
Here’s my two-aanas. Many of you might know the story of the Miller, his son and their donkey. One version of this can be read at https://rickwalton.com/folktale/50fabl46.htm. In my Hindi class it was taught as ’’Kis kis ki sune’’ - if you listen to too many people without conviction, you’ll soon be in trouble.
People like Faisal have the tough job of constantly getting input from janta - all of whom speak with conviction - and choosing the few ideas that will advance the cause of this community. It’s not easy and for their courage, I applaud them. They must do what they know to be the best thing instead of yielding to every flavor du jour that comes about.
The Argumentative Indian is not merely the title of a book - it’s alive and well and very much at play on MouthShut. I say it as a sabashi to those of you who’ve been making all the halla gulla.
It would be foolish for MS team to yield to every 2 annas thrown at them instead of incurring the disappointment of a few but judiciously charting the best course for this community. Many members will be disappointed - so what? Roll with the punches.
As an executive in an IT firm, I know first hand you can’t _ever_ please everyone - much less do it all the time. The janta’s job is to offer suggestions. The management’s job is to judiciously take what advances things. Got to love the world of Idea Democracy.
Some have taken this discussion ad hominem - attacking Faisal’s accent. I don’t know how long the kid was abroad, but I am SICK of deshbandhu who can’t get past the accents of brown-skinned log may have been in foreign for many years. Been in Amrika over 20 years and your kind still poke fun at me when I return to India for speaking with firangi accent. Get over it, bro, and get used to it. It’s here to stay :)
If hadn’t been for those who ventured to go to other shores and bring back the good practices they learned to India, this desh would not have made the progress it has. There’s a new Indian being defined and he/she is Bharatvasi possibly with a funny accent and possibly even a gora/gori spouse.
