ABOUT THE BOOK

Well this book by Agatha Christie belongs to the Marple series but it is different from the other Marple mysteries because this is one of the only first person narrated book in the series and though Miss Marple solves the mystery yet she appears in the climax only and her skills are not potrayed properly. The plot and story are also unique and superb.

THE STORY

The story is narrated by Jerry, who after recovering from an accident is advised to go to the countryside of England for fresh air by his doctor.Accordingly Jerry with his sister Joanna rents a house in a village for six months, from an old lady who dislikes men and is a much tried woman, where they are unknown to everyone and completely secluded from their city life. But little did they know what was in store for them their !!

Well Lymstock was a village full of secrets with all the strange villagers residing there distrusting each other. Now the problem of the villagers was that anonymous letters were being sent to them and in which soon enough Jerry and his sister get involved. Now the twist comes when suddenly after getting such a letter, a villager(Mrs.Symmington)commits suicide.Well the coroner’s verdict was that this was a suicide but after a week or so a Symmington-maid gets murdered and Megan, Mrs.Symmington’s neglected daughter(who keeps saying that she will take revenge somehow from the villagers for insulting her) finds the body. Now the experts say that the author of the poison pen letters is a woman and she is out for revenge.........But guess what.........you are suspecting the wrong person....Miss Marple solves the mystery and to know who is the poison pen letters’ author you must read the book to find it out.

MY VIEWS

Well the end is certainly very shocking. The cause of all the letter-writting and the murders is not very impressive so the reader might get a little disappointed because he/she might expect a better climax. The story from the beginning is fantastically described and the suspense built in it is great....so according to me this book is a must-read for all......
