Mr. Coffee/iced Tea Maker

I’m writing this review under Mr. Coffee, even though it’s for the Mr. Coffee, Iced tea maker.

I purchased the Mr. Coffee Iced Tea maker about 2 years ago on the advice of my sister in law, (Thanks Julie!) I love it! It’s been one of the best $29.95 items I’ve purchased.

It’s very basic, and works like a drip coffee maker, only you add ice.

To begin with, you have a 3 litre plastic pitcher that you fill with water to the line indicated by a raised mark on the pitcher.(About 1/2 way). You pour the water into the top compartment of the tea maker and then fill the pitcher with ice(to the raised mark indicating ice.) Next you add either loose tea or tea bags to the top portion of the machine(as you would with coffee.)after placing a coffee type, paper filter in it. Then you place the pitcher below the tea compartment, push the button and the water comes through, at the perfect temperature to brew the tea.

It’s just as simple as brewing coffee.

BUT......You can also enhance your iced tea by adding some different things to the pitcher before placing it below the tea compartment, for extra added goodies!

Here are some of the ways I pep up my iced tea:

I add about 1/4 cup of sugar, some mint leaves and a drop or two of pure mint extract. This really refreshes on a hot summer day!

I slice up some oranges, lemons or limes(or all of them!) and place them in the pitcher for a special flavor. And then garnish each glass with a slice too.

You can also add about a 1/3 cup of fresh raspberries or strawberries with a 1/4 cup of sugar to give you tea a fruity flavor.

Another special treat is, freeze orange juice in ice cube trays and add the frozen orange juice cubes instead of plain ice cubes to the pitcher. Mmmm Mmmm, good!

Add a bit of honey to the pitcher for just a touch of sweetness too!

Another tip, use different types of tea leaves. Make your own blend. I like to mix orange pekoe and darjeeling with just a pinch of Earl grey. Any combination will work.

When you’re finished brewing your iced tea, clean up is a breeze. Remove the coffee filter and the used tea leaves, throw it out, rinse the ’’tea holder’’ with hot water, and it’s ready for you to brew your next pot of perfect iced tea!

Enjoy! =)
