*NO NO this is not about AAM AADMI of MS but about the movie MR INDIA.
When I was in 03rd standard my dad had forcefully taken me to shave off my hair since I had some hair problems then. OH GOD I had hated him so much for doing that to me which I now realize was for my good only. You all must be thinking what has Mr India and me shaving my hair off have to do? Actually that same year this movie had released and since I had shaved my hair I use to wear a cap similar to what Anil Kapoor had worn in the movie only difference was my cap was navy blue in color. But due to this similarity every body in my building and in my area use to tease me calling me ‘Mr India’ and also by saying ‘Mogambo Khush hua’….I use to get damn irritated then but now I have a hearty laugh about it.
Coming back to the movie, Mr India is one of my favourite movies. I must have watched it almost 10 or 15 times. And few days back when it was again aired on the TV, I enjoyed it the same way as I had enjoyed it when I first watched this movie.
Mr India a 1987 release movie directed by Shekhar Kapur written by Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan starring
Anil Kapoor as Arun Verma
Sridevi** as Seema - a newspaper reporter
Amrish Puri as Mogambo – ofcourse the villain
Ashok Kumar – Prof Sinha a Scientist/Prof
Satish Kaushik** as Calendar - Cook
The movie is about Arun who takes care of a bunch of orphan kids. Though his only means of earning is through the violin lessons that he gives to some students he makes sure that somehow he keeps all the orphan kids living with him happy. Since he has big beach side house he thinks about renting out one of the rooms to somebody and gives it off to Seema who is also looking out for an apartment but she has an aversion towards kids. All is well until Mogambo(whose dream is to become the King of India) comes to know about Arun’s beach side house and wants to use it to store weapons and he forces Arun to vacate the house. Prof Sinha gives Arun a mysterious gadget which his father had left for him before his death. Anybody wearing this gadget on their wrist would become invisible. The movie is about how Arun uses this gadget to stop Mugambo from achieving his motives and ultimately saves the people of India from a big disaster.
Overall the movie was simply brilliant with good performances. The comic timings of Anil Kapoor and Sridevi were simply superb. They both have a great chemistry. The scene where Sridevi has disguised as Charlin Chaplin simply puts me in splits. All the kids in the movie have also given gr8 performances. Amrish Puri has also acted brilliantly as Mogambo who can forget his famous dialogue “Mogambo Khush Hua”.
All songs of the movie are good my personal favorites are “Zindagi ki yahi reet hai haar ke baad hi jeet hai” and the parady song. And who can forget the sensuous song “Kate nahi kat te yeh din yeh raat” and hilarious “Hawa Hawai Avee Ve Ve Veeeeeee”.
I am sure most of you must have already seen this movie but if you haven’t please catch it soon you will not regret it….I can bet on it….
