An easy to use program with all the basic messenging needs of a beginer.....it does have advantages over other products like aim and icq. The way it tells you someone else is typing is a cool feature but lets not get carried away with little things when they have missed a few...yet VERY important features out. no file transfer or complete control over the interface. integration with netmeeting is excellent. if you have another messenger program get this one instead ..... but dont expect great things. simple YES ... Features NO
Messages, chat, voice, file send and e-mail integration. MSN is not full of features you will never use. This program uses half the memory used by ICQ and it has an outstanding interface. Not to mention easy installation and multiple
languages.
ITs the best instrument for talking to friends when youre online.Because: *There is a sound to alert you when the window is minimized *ENTER (button) means send and not next line *You see when your friends are online (and hear) *I never had any form of trouble using it (everything works) *addresses automatically become links (no need to cut or copy) *the conversations are saveable (for later use of links etc.) *The window itself isnt messy (you dont get confused by all the commands) *You simply double-click the name, and <WHOOPS> ...there is the message-window. *It doesnt slow down the computer like ICQ does. *You actually SEE that the other person is typing a message(which means that you can choose to wait for the reply instead of writing like crazy, hoping he/she wont beat you to it, only to have to write it again because it didnt fit his/her next comment which you didnt know was coming! *and last but not least: You get notified when you have new e-mail (which means youdont need a pop-server or an e-mail program. The only downside I can think of, is that the chat-windows minimum size is too large. But that is just a minor detail since you can always hear an incoming new message when the window is minimized All in all: an excellent piece of software
Ive found the msn messenger is an excellent way of communicating with friends and family... exspecially if they live long distances... because the messenger is free and efficient, I enjoy using it... I could use any chat room in the world, but I dont because A) it is fun, = it provides sound, the ability to TALK, and the ability to personalize the setting!!! B)it is fast= when I am talking with friends that are across the country, it feels like they are next door because of the response time, I guess it also helps that they are fast typers. (unlike my neice who is rather slow)... and C)its FREE... that is the most amazing part, is that it is free... not all good things in life are free... (except for MSN) I dont know how much I have saved in long distance calls but I am sure that It is a ton of money...
