Greenwoods - Ideal place for wildlife enthusiasts

I got to know about Greenwoods from one of my friends who had great things to say about the location, stay and food. Coincidently just few days back, me and my group of 7 buddies were planning for something exciting in the first week of January. I had a look at the website’ http://www.greenwoodsnaturecamp.com’ and it had pretty much most of the details which we would have wanted. After making the booking and getting the confirmation, we started from Bangalore early on Saturday morning and reached Thorapalli around 11:45AM.

As informed, a staff from Greenwoods was waiting to pick us near the Thorappalli petrol station. He took us to the Greenwoods nature camp which was around 2 or 3 Kms from the NH. While we were about a km away from the camp, the tar road made way for kuccha road and the scenery around was simply amazing. Huge bamboo forests on 3 sides and me along with my friends were already impressed with the location.

We had a quick snap session enroute and reached Greenwoods around noon. The caretaker and the staff accompaning us gave a download of the itenary for the rest our stay along with safety instructions(Do’s and Dont’s while in forest). Though the manager did not speak a great english, one message was loud and clear, the nature and forest meant a lot to them and requested to be cognizant of the fact that we are in animals territory and we better not disturb them.

At 12:45, lunch was ready and we had a heartful(or should I say mouthful) lunch. After relaxing for 2 hours, we went to Thepakadu for a safari, visited elephant camp and were back to our base camp around 8PM.

We could see atleast 20 to 25 deers grazing just opposite to the nature camp. Our group decided to have dinner around 9PM and the food was pretty good. All of us retired to bed as the next days schedule started early in the morning(6 AM to be precise) for a trek.

The trek was very good and we were lucky to spot couple of bisons, lots of deers, peacock and a single tusker elephant. After 2 hours of trekking, rats were playing in everyones stomach. We hit the dining area, the movement we reached the camp. Felt like it was the best breakfast that we had, probably we did not starve so much in the recent past. Not discounting the taste of Ghee pongal that was served and to finish each of us had couple of fresh pineapple juice which was in the menu.

With all our great memories, we started back to bangalore at 11:30AM on Sunday. Overall I would recommened Greenwoods to my friends and its great value for money.
