Have a wild time!

The drive from Bangalore was tiring. Especially the last 100 odd kilometres after Mysore...with potholes as big as craters on the road. But we managed to cross the border into Tamil Nadu from Karnataka just after sunset...destination a town called Masinagudi.

The forest is eerie at night...though there is enough traffic up and down. The first thing we saw was a herd of elephants...with a huge tusker standing almost in the middle of the road. We were very tempted to stop and look...but better sense prevailed and we drove of quietly...

All along the jungle road we kept our eyes open...not just for potholes... We saw lots of spotted deer (almost like cattle in this area), sambar deer, bison (majestic white socksed animals), wild boar..

We drove past to our guesthouse...a place called Forest Hills Farm & Guesthouse...right under the Ooty mountains. Had a great time...hogged ourselves on the lovely food there, and went out on a night ride around the jungle. Wanted to go for an elephant ride into the sanctuary, but it was booked too full...and anyway there were too many ’’tourist’’ types around the sanctuary office, feeding the monkeys, and generally creating a ruckus.

Didn’t wan’t to get back...but...

We’ll be back there soon, and as often as we can
