Bombay My Love

Amidst queer pressure or peer pressure I went for this much acclaimed movie directed by the famous Dombivli Fast director.

I had high hopes and with equal equanimity I went through the motions I mean the motion pictureThe central theme of the movie the very moral fibre or the link that binds Mumbai is put forth in a very subtle way and at times in a very blunt wayThe plot was good although I would not like to be taken back to that fateful year whence all the mayhem at Mahim took place and in all the other parts.

The display of dismembered limbs and the colourful red alongwith the sound blasting that takes place in the movie gives the punch and the goosebumps to the viewer but it also registers in his mind that we live in an age of Kali and anything can go wrong in a jiffy just to help Murphy’s Law

The characters are well portrayed and the actors do justice to their roles with their phenomenal screen presence.Madhavan’s rendition of a jittery middle class family man jolted by the blasts and his nervous steps throughout give ample evidence of what the victims went through

A chilling reminder that we are protected by none and then we need arms and ammunition to protect ourselves if our men in uniform are not adept enough to protect us

The language used in the movie is blunt and this gives a clear verdict of a reality show in the offing. The film’s duration is perfect and with due respect to humour it has a perfect timing! The portrayal of the media as a wolf nay a hound is wonderfully done with the hunter becoming the hunted and then the hunted trying to balance her emotions with her profession

There is a tug of war or a debate at every juncture in the movie and that keeps the thinking viewer thinking and coming to solutions on his own and this is what every movie should strive for.The communal tension the vitriolic atmosphere , a poor man who has got nothing with him and yet visits a mall and gets humiliated and the actuality all blend well

The sermons the beautiful parts of Mumbai all add that mystique to this movie. All in all a wonderful tribute to Mumbai’s never say die attitude but then those who actually died , spare a thought. The Mumbai trains are like concentration camps with people like maggots in dead flesh jostling for space and for blood No one has the right to kill anyone but then we sow the seeds of our sins and pay  for it. Mumbai is bursting at its seams and apocalypse now was never an oxymoron. Hypocrisy is the price that vice pays to virtue
