Capturing Mumbai Blasts n its after effects

After a long time a really great movie has come to theater’s. The last great movie was Tare Zamine Pe.

"Mumbai Meri Jaan" is a story of 5 very different people whose life changes drastically after 7 local train blasts that rocked lifeline of mumbai i.e. local trains at peak hours between 6-7pm on 11 July 2006.

Suresh(KK Menon, one of the strong actors) is a Muslim hater person. After the blasts he suspects all the Muslims to the extent that he refuses to do business for them and also when he suspects one person he just follows his suspect through out the day which turns out to be meeting with his girl friend. How he realizes things are not so black or rather bleak with all Muslims, I mean not all Muslims are terrorists.

Nikhil Agrawal(Madhavan) is a very eco friendly, patriotic person who informs a kelawala that a plastic bag can not dissolve for 10000 yrs, so not to use plastics and is very strong abt using public transport. He was saved the grim effects of blast as someone took him in second class on that day but in the same train, his friend in 1st class loses his arm. This impacts Nikhil so much that he has nightmares. How he overcomes his fear to travel in train along with his realization that even USA is scared of terror attacks.

Rupali Joshi(Soha Ali Khan) is a famous news reporter who is directly affected by blasts as her love dies in the blast.  and now tables are turned, the TV channel that used people’s misfortune for their TRP now uses her life story very badly. But her track’s ending was not clear.

Thomas(Irfaan Khan) is a south Indian migrate who is selling coffee. His track is different but refreshing.

Tukaram Patil(Paresh Rawal), the retiring constable has very interesting plot. Though it is not a

very positive or a heroish plot but very realistic. He along with his Constable Kadam(Vijay Maurya) were really good. How he controls, motivates, helps Kadam along with Suresh was really good.

Though the movie has no BIG stars but it has good strong actors which makes this movie very much realistic. U will not feel its Paresh Rawal but u will feel its Tukaram and so was the case of Suresh n not KK Menon, Nikhil not madhavan. These 3 were simply awesome. So was Vijay Maurya as Kadam.

Of course, Irfaan Khan, Soha ali Khan, Sameer Dhramadhikari(Rupli’s love) were equally good.

I loved KK Menon’s story, its ending stirs heart.

The story, script n ending is too good.

Nishikant Kadam direction was commendable.

Best parts of the movie

1) Suresh(KK Menon)’s chase of a Muslim leading to Haji Ali Dargah.

2) Suresh’s going to meet Muslim boy’s mother at her home.

3) Rupali bani Rudali and vote for the same part

4) Kadam attempting a suicide, he defending the constable who had raped the girl

5) Madhavan’s night mare and his talk with his NRI friend Vinod

6) Paresh Rawal’s 2 interactions with KK Menon

7) Ending.

A very positive and a must see movie.
