Mumbai flows in my blood:-
Mumbai is the same city which was previously called as BOMBAY .
Well I know it’s a little dramatized sentence to say that Mumbai flows in my blood , but its true to the very word , I am born and brought up in Mumbai and know almost every nook and corner of this heaven of a city .Lacs of people come to this city every year with dreams in their eyes and a hope in their heart , the truth stays that once they are in this city they get absorbed by its speed and by the water that flows near it , the group of 5 islands have been reclaimed , joined and made into a single city over the past 100s of years and this is the dream city called MUMBAI .
Well you would ask what’s so great about a city which is almost 40 kms long from north to south and approximately 20 kms from west to east ? .But how can we also forget that this city is also the house of 1, 20, 00, 000+ people , yes this is not a typing mistake it is 1, 20, 00, 000+ people . Ah now it makes a little sense correct .wink
Mumbai is the city that never sleeps, most of the people wake up almost with the sun and get going with their work, then as the sun sets they reach home and then they are out again for partying they are back late at night (you can read it as early the next morning) and get as much sleep as they can & wake early next day to start the whole grinding all over again and to think of it, they do all this with a smile on their face.
Well Mumbai also runs on its shot of Insulin, and this shot is offered by the Trains, The Mumbai Railways helps lacs of people commute from their place of residence to their place of work and back, with one of the worlds best train network, during peak hours there is a single train every 3 mins wherein the first train starts at 04.00 hrs and the last train is at 01.00 hrs at night. (Well I am sure now I have you all thinking).
Well to handle all of these people, their parties, their whims and fancies, we do have very good police teams, the Mumbai police is ranked second in the world, after the Scotland Yard. Well it’s no joke to keep under control such a big population, but then did I forget to mention that Mumbai also has a parallel economy (call it as the underworld) but they would never involve themselves in the life of a commoner and nor does a commoner involve themselves in the life of this Underworld. (Been in Mumbai for more than 25 years and have just came across them only once.)
There is a legend that flows in Mumbai, a legend that is true till date, the legend says “NO ONE WILL EVER SLEEP AN EMPTY STOMACH IN MUMBAI” and this is really true, you get food for Rs.1 to Rs.1500 a day per head , so if you are as rich as rich you can be or as poor as poor you can think of , in Mumbai you are sure to have a filled stomach before you go to sleep.
Bombay also houses Bollywood , sounds a lot like Hollywood correct , well yes it is , it’s the Indian Cinema Industry and like all great things it too is based out of Mumbai , we see the stars , in their real selves moving around and partying all day and night through , but here we Mumbai ties , do not go , ooh lala , because we are so occupied with our own lives that we always think these stars to be one of us and we never get flown off by the star status .
I understand that the biggest question to ask nos is “Is this city SAFE?”, well the answer is YES, yes it is as safe as it can be, the safety can be judged by the basic fact that I have seen girls traveling by the train at 00.30hrs all alone in the train and Most of the people will act protective to them and not as a threat .
Mumbai is a complete cosmopolitan city , having people of all caste , creed and color . Mumbai is the snapshot of the Ideal India .
Mumbai has the gateway of India , its the lifeline of India , the Commercial capital of India , the city having most of the biggest business houses , the city having one of the highest rates for property , the city with the highest job opportunity , and also has some of the best education institutes , many discos , the city being the birth place of hundreds of the Indian freedom fighters and not to forget the biggest slums in the whole of Asia well this is MUMBAI .
To add to all of this , this city has a heart of GOLD , One of the most heart warming incident that will make you agree to what I have said till now and I want to share about this heaven is, some days ago , one of the leading dailies carried an article of a 12 year old child, son of a Peon in a private organization, had to undergo a heart operation which would cost approximately 17, 00, 000/- and since that peon was not rich enough, they wanted people to donate as much as they can . The next day the same daily carried an “Thank you Mumbai ” note , because the complete amount was collected in 15 hours flat , and this money was not given by one single big shot person but from the pool of hundreds of people who came forward by donating from as little as Rs. 10/- to as much as Rs. 3, 00, 000/- .
This is Mumbai and this is why I love it beyond anything else . . . . . . . . . . .. . . .
