This review is in reply to the review written by MS member ‘mrhater’ on Bombay City. Well mister, before I proceed let me tell you …your review sucks. If the matter written in the review was not enough to suck the freaky italics font you have used also is horrible.
The commercial capital of India is probably one of the best cities you can ever come across in our nation. Looks like you have written this review just to increase your points or to get noticed on the site and to provoke strong reactions from MS members.
As of the points you raised...
1) Pollution: Its present everywhere and besides Bombay is still not the most polluted city in India. I don’t want to mention the name of the most polluted city cause it might lead to a few misunderstandings.
2) Population: India has the second largest population in the whole world....some or the other place has to be overpopulated. Bombay being the most industrialized city, the city filled with opportunities just has to bear the brunt of overpopulation.
3) Eating food outside: If you feel that the food sold by the Hawkers and the roadside shops aren’t good (you may be right to some extent) there are many other hygienic hotels and food centers and restaurants where you can have Vada Paw or Paw Bhaji or any other food of your choice.
4) Of the underworld........I have lived in Bombay right from my birth and to tell you the truth, the common man living in Bombay is rarely troubled by the underworld. Infact Bombay is one of the most secure cities in India......and hey this is not an overstatement but a FACT. Bombay has a fantastic nightlife, one place where even girls and ladies feel secure to move about even at night. You think these things were possible if there was a fear of the underworld?
You talk about film stars having contacts with the underworld….what about our politicians who are present all over the nation? They don’t have contacts with the underworld?
Bombay is the city of dreams.....Dhrubhai Ambani once used to sleep on the footpaths of Mumbai or Bombay and now is one of the worlds richest man.... In an interview he attributed his success to BOMBAY CITY. Dhuribhai Ambani is just one example, many other successful industrialists and businessmen say that they could not have been successful in any place other than Bombay.
Education facilities are probably the best in Maharashtra and Bombay to be specific.
I realized this point when my cousins from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar and Rajasthan had problems in pursuing further studies from the places they live and had to come to Bombay. I don’t mean to say that UP, Delhi and the other places I mentioned are bad, just that the facilities are very good in this city.
The people in Bombay are generally very courteous and helpful. One realizes this point when he/she don’t know the way of the place he/she is visiting and has to ask the by passers for instructions. Rarely you come across cases where people were misguided.
The public transport facilities are also very good. ‘BEST’ (used as a proper noun…name of the public bus services present in Bombay) bus services and the local trains in addition to the rickshaws and taxis make commuting fairly easy (although not always comfortable). There are quite a few reviews on MS to support this point of mine.
Many other MS members have raised many other good points about Bombay city and I wouldn’t like to repeat them.
Every city has a few good points and a few drawbacks...and when the positive points outweigh the negative points the place is considered to be good...Bombay certainly has a few drawbacks but the number of positive points shadow the drawbacks. Bombay is the city which never sleeps, Bombay is the city which rocks, Bombay is one of the most fantastic city in India .
