I am writing this review after a long time of the release but cannot help it, saw it just last night. Hmmmm...so after so much bad press and so much single star and 2 star reviews why this one. Well read on....because I am not going to say bad things for a change. According to me the movie was an entertainer, a genuine effort to give you something totally different. Agreed the movie dies because most of the time audiences cannot help saying ’’Lagaan se Churaaya hain’’. But thats only because both are stories of the same people. In one they were learning cricket (with great music to back them up) in one they are watching Television (with not so great music to back them up)
Performance wise the movie is okay, Abhishek again shines and shows a lot of promise in his ability to carry a movie on his shoulders. Lara Dutta is good too, okay okay agreed the costumes helped her to some extent. But even otherwise she is good, the songs, general dialogues are really good but still needs to work out on those big time senti dialogues which she had one towards the end but could not do justice to it. Other characters were all okay and played their part well. But GOD save this earth from Chunky Pandey and his hopeless performances...LOSER written all over him. I wonder what happened to Bappan of Tezab!!!!
The art direction is satisfactory, direction is good and no where the movie lacks pace or bores the audience. The 2 characters 1)Slow motion guy and 2) The village cowboy rock...and add reasonably good humor. Better than the double meaning ones which are filled in after the movie has been shot. Do not know why this movie had flop written over it from the day one. I liked it and I am sure a lot others will like it after seeing the movie with an unbiased attitude. Do give it a try!!
