Another hilarious comedy from Kamal Haasan!!!

A comedy film is actually the one which makes the viewers laugh at funny situations in the film, but in Bollywood, most of the comedies are those in which though the audiences laugh, but they actually laugh at the film-makers and the actors and not laugh at the funny situations of the film.A comedy film is successful, when it succeeds to entertain you and make you laugh.Fortunately, same is in the case of ’’Mumbai Xpress’’-the latest film by Kamal Haasan, which has been released in Tamil and Hindi. The film has been making headlines ever since it was announced in November 2004.After lots of controversies, about the film`s title and the Rakhi Sawant song, the film has finally released!

Sahara One Motion Pictures.’’Mumbai Xpress’’, directed by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, stars Kamal Haasan, Manisha Koirala, Om Puri, Sharat Saxena, Pratima Kazmi, Saurabh Shukla, Vijay Raaz, Raza Murad and Master Hardik. This is one of the most awaited films of the year and all the Kamal Haasan fans had been looking forward to it and now that the film has released, the Kamal Haasan fans will surely be surprised as the film has turned out to be a hilarious comedy!

’’Mumbai Xpress’’ is a comedy which shows us the life in a busy city like Mumbai, in a humorous way.Mumbai is a city where people live lavishly and fulfill their dreams but it also has a darker side.Dreadful crimes such as kidnapping, etc.also happen, simultaneously, in this city.In this film too, there are 3 criminals who have formed a gang, and its leader Digambar (Vijay Raaz) is looking for one such man who can accomplish his gang`s mission. After so many searches, the gang doesn`t find anyone but one fine day, a woman (Pratima Kazmi), who turns out to be a friend of the members of this gang, tells them about a guy.The guy is called Avinash a.k.a Mumbai Xpress (Kamal Haasan).People call him ’’Mumbai Xpress’’ and not many people know his real name.He has been given such an unusual name because he is as fast as a train. He is a bike-rider, by profession. The three gang members get very impressed after knowing about him and they, hand over their task to him.Initially, Mumbai Xpress, refuses to be a part of this crime, as he doesn`t want to get involved in any such things now, but after lots of insistence, he finally aceepts this offer. The crime is as follows-Digambar`s gang who has appointed Avinash/Mumbai Xpress wants him to kidnap the son of a very rich businessman, who owns millions of rupees, and is ranked as one of the richest person of Mumbai (Saurabh Shukla). Now, comes the D day, when Mumbai Xpress is finally going to do the kidnapping, but this is the point, where everything goes wrong and haywire.Mumbai Xpress, mistakenly, kidnaps Daggu, the son (Master Hardik) of a ’’respected’’ Police Man (Om Puri). This child`s mother is Ahilya (Manisha Koirala), who was the police man`s mistress, and is currently a single mom, who dances in a bar and earns money for herself and her son.Currently, she is dreaming of becoming a housewife and settling down, but everything turns into a nightmare when her son is kidnapped.Digambar and his gang get tensed when they find out that Mumbai Xpress has kidnapped the A.C.P`s son so decide to kill the child, but Mumbai Xpress plans to protect him from them. Thus begins a story of confusion, filled with hilarious situations and of course, romance, between Mumbai Xpress and Ahilya. But how?And how will Mumbai Xpress save Daggu?

Kamal Haasan returns back in a thoroughly enjoyable film, and this is one of the best Kamal Haasan (comedy) film, after ’’Appu Raja’’ and ’’Chachi 420’’.The actor is a bunch of talent and he proves his worth again, in this film. The very first scene, when he appears on the screen, he manages to grip your attention, through his wonderful performance. This film completely belongs to him and there are no doubts in it.Surely, a memorable performance.

Manisha Koirala is back in form, after a long time and this film proves that she has definitely learnt a lot from her previous mistakes. The talented actress who had been appearing in B-grade movies, off late, such as ’’Tum’’ or ’’Chaahat-Ek Nasha’’, finally appears back in an A-grade film. So, all those who were thinking that Manisha Koirala is finished and she should quit the industry, definitely, need to take another look. This is her second comedy film, after ’’Paisa Vasool’’, and this time she looks more comfortable doing comedy. She is very competent and does a brilliant job, as Ahilya. She also, makes a very good pair with Kamal Haasan.

Om Puri is another highly talented actor, and as a rough and tough cop, he shines in this film. His sequences with Saurabh Shukla are truly hilarious and clapworthy and his scenes with Manisha Koirala are also very good.Infact, both of them appear together after a very long time.We saw Manisha and Om Puri together last time, in ’’Gupt’’, where they had excellent scenes, together. In this film, too they share some really good moments.

Saurabh Shukla is another such gifted performer, who is wonderful. His comedy timing is simply perfect and not once, does he goes overboard. He also has some amazing scenes with Kamal Haasan.Along with Kamal Haasan, he creates dhamaal.

Vijay Raaz is also simply superb and you will just simply love him.Raza Murad and Sharat Saxena also lend able support.Pratima Kazmi leaves a strong impact on the viewers, as Avinash`s sister. Her dialogue delivery and face expressions are fantastic!

Master Hardik-the child artiste, is also no less.If Kamal Haasan is the hero of the film, then this cute child artiste is the second hero of the film.Very rarely do we see child artistes performing, so well and confidently.

Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, the director of the film, does a wonderful job, and thumbs up to him, for making such an entertaining comedy and a clean (can you guys actually believe it?) family entertainer. The film consists of some brilliant scenes. The scene in which Pratima Kazmi, tells the gang members about Mumbai Xpress and then his introduction, is amazing and from that very scene, when Mumbai Xpress is introduced the film manages to get your attention. Then, the scene, when the kidnapping finally happens, is executed very well, where Digambar and the child go unconscious and Avinash lifts them up with a crane. The second half, consists of some excellent scenes such as the ones where Kamal Haasan and Saurabh Shukla share the screen space. The scenes of the gang members with Kamal Haasan are also simply hilarious and very gripping. The romance between Mumbai Xpress and Ahilya has also been handled very well, and the love track doesn`t seemed to be forced in the going-ons.Kamal Haasan`s screenplay is very gripping, but the film gets a bit confusing in the second half, and it goes a bit haywire, but I suppose, that was a part of the film.Saurabh Shukla`s dialogues are hilarious and the witty and humorous lines make this film even funnier. This film consists of some great lines, so watch out for them.
