No matter what others say, I think its an eminently watchable film for four reasons:
Mallika Sherawat or as my friend calls herMallika tu sharma mat. She rocks. Forget that its the magic of thesilly cone, look around to see if anyones complaining. No one. Everyone is happy that theres one jat girl willing to go all the way on screen(many prefer to do it offscreen in Bollywood unlike Hollywood). No wonder, Sherawat also got Jackie Chan to give her ablink and you will definitely miss role. Who cares that shes all covered in the film. Its an international debut all the same.
Emraan Hashmi - this dude has great chemistry with any nubile girl hes paired with. Maybe its Himesh Reshammiya background score and vocals. Maybe its his sexy co-stars. Maybe its just Lady Luck. Or maybe its just me. I like him. One reason could be that in all the films that I have seen him, I have found him to opt for roles that have some amount ofinterestingness that keep you hooked.
Music - the songs are so eminently hummable. Kaho na kaho serenades you like nothing else.
The scene - Mallikas love making with Hashmi isnt like one of those crude soft porn films. Its quite tasteful in the erotic sense. Its not vulgar. Its a bit like what you saw of Bipisha in Jism. But yes, this scene clearly showed that both Hashmi and particularly Sherawat have all the makings of a porn star. But this isnt going to happen in conservatist India. So stop worrying. Which also means, Ms Sherawat isnt going to shock us anymore than what she has already done in Murder.
STATUTORY WARNING: One could argue that this films primary purpose is to titillate and not convey anything close to real, but believe me, I have known cases of dissatisfied housewives gallivanting with their drivers, gardeners, maid servants and husbands friends. Its true and its happening. Only, not all of it is being showcased on the big screen.
