Review : The American version was much better and it was shorter too. Okay, my first issue was with the casting, if you are going to get a hot guy like Ashmit Patel then he should at least be in the lovers role not the boring husbands role. Especially in a movie with a lot of hot scenes like this.
In no way did the unpleasant Emraan Hashmi come close to the allluring Olivier Martinez of Unfaithful. They really messed up the story in Murder. It would have been exponentially better if they had just stuck to the original storyline of Unfaithful, as in movies like Jism, Saaya, and even Paap.
Here is a list of the problems that I had with Murder as compared to Unfathful. 1. The fact that they had known eachother before the affair in the movie. It took a lot of the steam and the mystique out of the story.
The love relationship between the husband and wife in Murder was essentially non-existent, making the whole escapade of the affair even less interesting. There was no confusion on the part of the viewers on why she engaged in her love affair, unlike in Unfaithful where there was more romance between husband and wife.
He was not really dead! The twist where he did not die only made it more melodramatic, and prolonged the agony of watching this movie.
I did not, DID NOT, care about any of the characters. They were all one dimensional, and self centered.
It did not have the slick ending of Unfaithful, where Richard Gere got away with the murder.
In Unfaithful, when Gere went to Oliviers apartment, Olivier was not confrontational like Emraan was. In fact, you felt bad when Olivier was killed, because while he was not the most wholesome character, he did not deserve to die, instead, Gere only attacked him on an impulse, seemingly, without intention to kill. But Emraan was really, really, asking for it. And you were happy to see him dead.
The whole thing about Ashmit being previously married to Malikas sister made the Husband-Wife story line was unecessary and only added more fluff to the plot which was almost non-existent anyway.
The fact that she only married Ashmit out of guilt, and sympathy, convinced me that she should have just stayed with Emraan, and dumped her boring husband. Unlike in Unfaithful, where you really felt like Diane Lane was doing something very wrong.
Finally, I would like to say that it is a shame that they wasted Ashmit looks as the boring pati, and gave the what could be interesting role to that hammy jerk. Malika was not impressive, I felt no sympathy for her connundrum, because she and all of her problems, were boring and superficial. Mercifully, I was not stupid enough to waste my money on this DVD. And I recommend that you do the same.
