Hi dudes, Im writing a review after quite sometime. I should say Yahoo, Hotmail, Google, Microsoft etc are the best in terms of services they offer, security, design etc. However, Instead of just having top 10 sites that everyone knows, Id like to mention those sites that one might miss, but shouldnt miss!
(1) http://www.A9.com: A9.com is a new Search Website. It uses the Googles engine, the best forever. Whats its speciality? You can create a login here and you can see your history of Searches made in the past. That means you have an account, that keeps track of your searches, and lets you know the details. A9 is run by Amazon.
(2)Gmail.Google.com: How about having an email address with 1 GB space? Yes I mean 1 Gigabyte. This offer is by Google. Though this hasnt been started yet, it has been proposed. You can visit the site to register your current email, so that theyd mail you once they start offering accounts. Plus, they claim not to place picture ads on your messages. Theyd place only text ads it seems.
(3) http://www.iMobile.co.nr: iMobile.co.nr site offers unlimited free SMS to all INDIAN mobiles. This is especially useful for people in other countries who wanna communicate with their friends and relatives in India. Each SMS arrives in few seconds. The site is fast and the service is good. The site also provides mobile features and reviews, GSM Secrets, service providers etc.
(4) http://www.ComputerPranks.com: ComputerPranks is all about fun. It has hundreds of pranks which are absolutely free and you can play with on friends. The pranks are classified as Online Pranks, Downloadable pranks and so on. Just give a visit to this site, varieties of pranks are available. You can also submit your prank here. I have submitted a prank here -Yahoo-Hotmail Masquerader. Check this one. What this does is when someone types yahoo address, it takes them to Hotmail and vice-versa.
(5) http://www.TheFreeSite.com: TheFreeSite indexes a huge number of sites that offer Freebies from A-Z. It lists the sites that offer free email, graphics, web hosting, services, mobile phone stuff and so on. One good thing about their service is, when a free service becomes paid or no longer exists, they indicate the change so that we neednt explore the links unnecessarily.
(6) http://www.ZZn.com: Do you have a site and want to offer free email to your visitors, that too with POP access? Zzn is the answer. ZZn offers email services for Webmasters. Your customers get email of the form name@yourcompanyname.zzn.com.
(7) http://www.MichaelJackson.com: Well, just look at the site design. It comes in two forms: Lo-fi site, and hi-fi site. Low fi is meant for Modem connections and Hi-fi is meant for Cable and other broadband connections. Both are good. I should say this is the best in terms of Design. Its just superb. Navigation is so easy, and we get the feeling as if the site predicts our future moves! Some video clips are provided. But this site comes in this list just because of its design.
(8) http://www.WayBackMachine.com: Want to know how Yahoo looked few years back? WayBackMachine stores various sites, the way they looked and how they changed in course of time. Youll get the feeling of seeing your childhood photos, as youll see the same old display using which you signed into yahoo/any other site for the first time, the first time you went into internet. Its a real good feeling.
(9) http://www.Alexa.com : Alexa ranks websites in terms of visitors, page views, popularity etc. For example Yahoo ranks 1st, MSN 2nd, Google 3rd and so on. Sify.com comes somwhere within 3000 ranks. They also offer a toolbar which attaches itself to the browser and lets you know the rank of the sites you visit. This would give an indication of how popular the particular website is.
(10) http://www.Developer.Graphyx.Net: This is the BEST free webhost to my knowledge. They provide 25 MB Webspace and 500 MB Bandwidth. They support ASP, CDONTS etc etc. Tell me one other free host which supports CDONTS. Customer Support also is good. All Queries are answered withing 4 hours, even if youre not a member there. The Hosting service is better than even some paid hosts. The biggest thing is absolutely no Ads. They just ask for a text link back to their site.
Ha! Thats the list. Do post your comments.
