TRAVELLER’S TOP 10 (and a few more)
Few travel websites have been really useful and helpful for me during my escapades.
I have classified and detailed them based on their nature / purpose of use.
So here we go…I am giving away the websites that have been the secret behind my travel reviews
Road Guides
http://www.indiaoverland.com
Due to unknown reasons this website has NOT been functioning for the past few weeks.
This has been one of my favorite websites for a long time. One can get a variety of information including history, climate and hotels on most of the popular destinations and some of the not so known in India. This website also gives you road handbooks / guides which are really great while driving around. It provides very good information especially on various wild life sanctuaries. They insist on you becoming a member nowadays (free membership)
This has been one of the most useful website for all my travel
http://www.travelomart.com
This is another website which lets you explore India on road. It provides details including distances, travel time and routes. This lets you get information on destinations from the Himalayas to Kerala
India and around India
http://www.outlooktraveller.com
The website of the popular travel magazine by the same name, this is a very interesting website to say the least. It provides an in-depth of India with very useful information. You also have the option of getting updates by email on an ongoing basis.
I have been a reader of this magazine for a year and fair amount of my travel knowledge is surely due to this wonderful magazine and website.
http://www.traveljini.com
This is one of the best resources available online. It provides a great deal of information on each tourist destination in India and those you can generally travel to around India. They also offer you package deals and airfare deals on a range of destinations.
A very comprehensive website with detailed information on tourist places, especially in India
Travel Packages
http://www.travel.indiainfo.com
This is a sub-site of indiainfo.com. This site offers basic information on many destinations. They have decent (and sometimes good) packages on good properties in popular destination. This site also offers a currency converter, distance calculator and also provides data like a downloadable passport application and other forms.
http://www.amchogoa.com
This is the best website I have come across on Goa. It has decent information and very good packages on a range of 3 star to 5 start hotel and resorts in Goa. This website is complete Goa website with tourist information, car rental and travel arrangement to and fro Goa.
If you think of Goa, think of amchogoa.
http://www.makemytrip.com
An all in one site, which helps you choose mode of travel, accommodation, destination and also links you to HDFC for a travel loan. They have a unique online travel support to answer any travel related query.
Traveling Abroad
http://www.timeout.com
This is a website that you should remember for worldwide travel. This site is a complete guide to any great city in the world. Each city is presented to you with living guide, which explains in detail and provides the necessary links to all essential information.
In simple words, timeout is the online answer to Lonely Planet books.
http://www.concierge.com
This site helps you choose s destination anywhere in the world, select a hotel, find out about places to see and shopping. This website also has an interesting photo gallery which lets you customize a slide show.
An interesting site for world travelers.
http://www.e-travelinfo.com
This site looks deceptively simple at first glance. But soon you will unearth the sea of information and links that are available online.
