For those who are still in dark about what I do to earn my bread and butter(and cereals, fruits, vegetables, milk..etc.), I would again humbly tell u that I have a very rare kind of job. I am a software developer( oh how so new!). What brought me into this overcrowded profession was that one thing that I cannot suppress is my creativity. Though the creative part of my grey cells has limited channels and writing is certainly not one of them... but apart from programming problems one thing that really gives a kick to my creativity is ... yes u guessed it : cooking. I know that its hard to believe , but if I was poor at this software thing, I would be making desserts to earn bucks...
So this is a topic about ten favorite food items and I thought I had to write about my oh so boring choices at career options. So getting back to the thick of the problem at hand... my first reaction is.....
TEN just TEN...are u kiddin no way. For me it cant be less than 100 before my appetite begins to soar... its like ..Ooont ke mooh mein Jeera.
but now that I have started , I must give justice to the topic. so what to do..? hmmm eureka.. I would list the ten things I can cook myself and am still able to like it... hey dont get funny, no one has yet died after eating my stuff. Atleast I have not let it be known.
So this list is a tribute to the Sanjeev Kapoor in me...(yucks)
1.PULAO: Now dont think its just ordinary pulao. I can make atleast 5 different kinds of pulao each with a distinct aroma and taste. And boy do I love it... the steaming rice with all the flavors.
My Speciality: Peas Paneer Pulao (PPP) with a hint of mint.
2.ROTI SABJI: All creativity dies at this junction cos its copying time.. Yep I try to completely replicate my moms efforts but never found that heavenly taste.
My Speciality: Cauliflower in Corriander(Dhaniya) Curry
3.POHA: You know I am a Maharashtrian so.. POHA is like our traditional sunday breakfast.. but I am so fond of this one that it sometimes serves as the complete meal for me..
My Speciality: Add potatoes, Cauliflower and Peas to it. No Groundnuts pls.(nothing special here)
4.NOODLES: CHI PI HAA, yes sir its chinese time.. And right from hakka noodles to the predictable chowmein, the chef rohit delivers it all. Easy to cook and ready to eat, but only hot.
My Speciality: Sometimes I add cooked rice to it just for the fun of it (Not that bad)
5.CLUB SANDWICH: Again my creative juices are at full flow.. tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage and the usual suspects, mayonnaise etc.. even tried grapes, oranges and apples...
My Speciality:The tower sandwich where the top layer is slightly sweet and the bottom one a bit sour(Usual suspects in between).
6.KHEER: Yummy, but only Chawal(Rice, seems to be my favorite) ki Kheer. Dont do much with that just follow the rules... but I love it the way bengalis prepare it... awesome.
My Speciality: I never add any dryfruits or flavors.(So what?)
7.THE ROHIT SUNDAE: This ones easy. Take a large bowl. Add few pieces of bananas, pineapple pieces, dry fruits and chocolate syrup. Add vanilla icecream. add some chocolate cake, Add chocolate icecream, add some crackers, some pieces of chocolate, and some more cake...and go on.. IS IT BIG ENOUGH?? No! Add some more of above...till its big enuf to make u look like a sumo fighter.
MY Speciality: After you are done with the adding, top it up with grated dates and honey.(So Sweet).
8.CUTLETS: when I am in the mood I do this stuff.. all kinds of ok vegetables are welcome... even eggs and bring in the chutneys... hey where is the one I just kept in the plate??
My Speciality: Use leftover stuff from last night. Sometimes gives you very unexpected lovely tastes.(My Moms Style)
9.COFFEE: Coffee?? Whats so great about it u ask... Wait till u have a cup prepared by me... black and rich ummmm.
My Speciality: I rarely put any sugar or milk. maybe some chocolate.(So does half the world.tch)
10. Ummm ahhh okk wait.. I have got it... chips and salads and papadand...ummm chai.. u think everyone can cook that... not like me dear .. ok I admit I just know 9 things... of some respectable reputation.
My Speciality: I even manage to burn chips and papads.
So folks its time to say goodbye... if u want me to cook something for u... orders are being taken in the comments section...
