Mysore the historic city of Karnataka is famous for its magnificent palaces and majestic buildings. The huge green sprawling gardens and the avenues of aligned trees, surely attract the tourists all the time. The exotic place is full of graceful silk, sandalwood fragrance and the fabulous handcrafted designs - the specialty of Mysore.


Mysore is a royal city having majestic look and imposing mansions. The city has a traditional look and heritage monuments. The name Mysore refers to one of the most culturally contributed places and a center for many educational, commercial, administrative changes in the society. It has been a place for many musicians, artists, dancers along with number of scholars and writers. Mysore is one of the biggest districts of the Karnataka, having become one of the major business centers after Bangalore today.


Over a century, the city had been contributing culturally, socially and commercially, guiding the people from all walks of life. The dynasty of King Vadiyars who ruled Mysore over a century had vision and exhibited the indelible impression of planning and governing the city with peace and harmony. The entire city was designed and planned with suitable structure. The majestic city having royal mansions, public buildings, gardens look amazing.


The well-planned markets and the open areas are the unique features of the city, surrounded by number of parks, lakes and water bodies. Mysore is also called as Palace City, as there are many palaces across the city. The Mysore Palace or the Ambavilas Palace, with its mind blowing sight and the enthralling design always gets the huge attention. The gigantic royal palace along with its exceptional structure always stands apart. On the back drop of the famous Chamundi hill the city remained as one of the most popular places among the visitors today.


According to the recent survey, the Mysore city has become one of the hotspots in the tourist maps across the world. The number of tourist visit Mysore-city has been surprisingly increasing per year and it has become the most visited tourist-place ahead of Taj Mahal and the Golden Temple of Amritsar. During the famous Dasara festival, the city receives maximum number of tourists from all corners of the world.


Mysore city is surrounded by number of wonderful places which have become tourist attractions. Most of the places are beautiful and maintained so well that you will enjoy visiting them again and again. These places include museums, monuments, prehistoric sights, forts, temples, mosques, churches and even a well-managed zoo.


The places such as Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, Brindavan Gardens, Mysore Zoo, St.Philomena’s Church, The Railway Museum, Jaganmohana Palace, Jayalakshmi Vilas Mansion, Lalitha Mahal Palace, Karanji Lake, and Kukkarahalli Lake are really worth visiting places, which not only grabs your attention but are more worth spending time with.


A visit at Karaji kere takes you close to the nature in the company of birds and butterflies, which can be the undoubtedly the blissful experience offering solace to the mind. The huge sprawling lawn and the nicely decorated lively Brindavan garden remains out of world experience. The garden with full of colorful flowers is surely an out of world experience. The famous Chmundeshwari temple situated on the Chamundi hills having 1000 steps and a huge statue of Nandi, the bull of Lord Shiva at the bottom always display the divine and cultural side of the city and its people.


The city of Mysore was famous for its higher cultural values, traditional foundation and the religious importance. Today it has become one of the peaceful cosmopolitan cities. The people from all different faiths live together peacefully, developing the city with modern lifestyle. The Jamboo Savari - the procession of King sitting on elephant, which every Mysorean will love to watch and  enjoy during the Dasara festivities. Why Mysore is so special, because the best quality jasmine flowers are referred to as ‘Mysore Mallige’..!!


The city of Mysore has managed to keep its old charm and its magic, even though it has become one of the fastest growing cities of Karnataka with all forms of modern developments keep happening.
