Ram Gopal Varma films always come under close scrutiny for various reasons. The one thing common in all his films being that the basic idea of each film is to be different. Not just because he wants to make different cinema - but because he truly believes in it.
Naach is no different in that respect. It is a love story with a difference. The difference being that it is very close to real life.
Naach is the story of love, practicality, ambition, dream, ego, sacrifice and all of that. Laced with music that is different too.
While it has two feet-tapping numbers, it also has a theme song and a strong theme song (rendered by Makrand Deshpande).
Since Antra plays a choreographer in the film - who dares to be different even if it means not being able to work - the choreography of the film is quite hatke. Most of the sequences choreographed by Terrence Lewis.
Hats off to Antra for putting her best feet forward. She apparently trained for almost a year in the various forms of dance to be able to do full justice to her role in the film.
But the real reason that I am writing this review is because for the first time I am truly impressed with the capabilities of Jr Bachchan.
Not only has be acted brilliantly in the film, he has also proved himself with a dance sequence in true Naach ishtyle.
Ram Gopal Varmas direction to say the least is flawless.
Though a lot of people found the film a bit slow, the screenplay is gripping nevertheless.
Like I said before, Naach at the end of the day is a love story. Hence the moments that you take back with you are the simpler ones. Be it Abhishek proposing to Antra in the most simplest way ever. Or him getting all jealous watching Antra being pally with Ritesh. Or a scene where you actually see him cry because he has lost the only one he loves...
To me, the film totally belongs to Abhishek Bachchan inspite of popular opinion.
