When imagination dates perfection....

?Winners do not do different things. They do things differently.?

If Shiv Kera were to watch this movie Naach, he would be proud to see a prrof for this quote. Ram Gopal verma is a classic example of a winner who has presented an ordinary theme in an extraordinarily captivating fashion.

The movie revolves around two young and ambitious artists, Abhinav (Abhishek Bachchan) and Riva (Antara Mali). While the aspiring actor Abhi is willing for a few compromises on his journey to the destination, Riva, a talented and innovative choreographer does not make compromises and will lead life in her own terms. Their paths cross and cupid strikes.

While the compromising Abhi moves ahead in his career quicker, Riva s insistence to work her own way often comes in her way ahead. As life gets easier for Abhi anad tougher for his principled heartthrob, differences in their attitude towards work gets the better of their bonding. The entry of the sweet and friendly Diwaker ( Ritesh Deshmukh ) , who is willing to work with Riva in her own terms turns the career tide in Riva s favour, but only widens the personal gap. How Riva and Abhi discovers his true identity and wins back Riva s heart forms the rest of the movie.

Antara Mali captures the imagination and heart of the audience with a stellar performance. Her emotiveness, intensity and complete control over her physique is sure to turn even her sharpest critics (yours truly) into her admirers. No doubt she got the stronger of the characters, but still she had to perform and she comes out with flying colours. Ram Gopal verma has spent a lot of thought and effort on the character Riva and hats off to him for the way he has presented her. Her dances, though showing plenty of flesh is completely aesthetic and imaginative. Riva is a woman who is intense but expresses herself only through her dances. Antara has emoted this to perfection and her performance is stunning, to say the least.

Abhishek Bachchan s character is more human and emotional, but in no way less intense. Acting is in Abhishek s blood and genes and he slips into his character smoothly and easily. Though portrayed as susceptible to emotions and unable to separate his professional and personal life, Abhishek presents a character with an identity that is so unique to him. Any average human would relate more to Abhishek than to Antara in this movie and the credit goes to the director for tapping the talent out of this immensely gifted actor.

The movie is very intense, imaginative and different. The songs are slow , yet find a place in the heart. The costumes and make-up seem to be an overkill, but the high scores in all other aspects more than cover up for the few drawbacks in the movie.

Choreography , sound effects, music and cinematography play a constructive role in the building of the two central characters. It is here that the director s deep understanding of his job is conspicuous. He has fit all these three into the characters to perfection. The difference it makes to a movie when the songs, music and choreography appear in sync with the character and narration is exemplified in Naach.

Naach is sure to inspire even the most averse dancer to see what he is missing. It is sure to teach actors a thing or two on acting. It is an intense and complete movie. It is a feather in the cap of Ram Gopal verma. And, if my guess is right, Naach will be the brightest star in the sky of art.

How will I ever get the words to describe this wonderful picture !! I could only say Thank you Ram Gopal, Antara and Abhishek, for bringing a breath of fresh air into this polluted industry. Most of the movies fail to even deserve a second look. A few of them make you feel your money was worth the time. But, once in a while, we do get movies that make you think and identify yourself with the character. Naach is one such rare gem. It is a gift of Ram Gopal Verma to those who were starved of artistic essence.
