Nagin ( English translation: Female Snake) is a 1976 Hindi horror fantasy thriller film produced and directed by Rajkumar Kohli on Shankar Movies banner. It features a huge ensemble cast including Sunil Dutt, Reena Roy, Jeetendra, Feroz Khan, Sanjay Khan, Vinod Mehra, Rekha, Yogeeta Bali, Mumtaz in the lead roles and music composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. The film recorded as Super Hit at Box Office India. Following the success of the film the lead actress Reena Roy receives widespread attention and popularity. [1]
It was inspired by François Truffauts film The Bride Wore Black, based on Cornell Woolrichs novel of the same name.[2] The film was later remade in Telugu as Devathalara Deevinchandi ( 1977) with Jayamalini in the Nagin role. It was also remade in Tamil with Sripriya playing the Nagin role in the film Neeya.[
