A lousy film.

Naam Shabana is a prequel to the movie BABY. The movie has a good connect with BABY so much so that the characters from BABY are also repeated in Naam Shabana.

Story:

The story primarily focuses on agent Shabana Khan’s background and how she ends up becoming a part of India’s prestigious agency, RAW.

After having a troubled childhood and an incomplete relationship, she is helped by the members of Raw to fight her personal battle and later fight against the enemies of India.

Star Performances:

Tapsee Pannu has been strictly average in the movie. There’s nothing great about her emotional sequences in the film. Her action in the film is good.

Manoj Bajpayee ( Who is mostly shown speaking on the phone) is perfect for his part. Although his character should have been shown to be more involved in Shabana’s training.

Akshay Kumar is the relief you require while watching this flick. His entry sequence is whistle worthy!

Prithviraj Sukumaran who plays the main antagonist has a very small role. He plays his part well.

Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Murli Sharma and Manav Vij have done well.

Screenplay and Direction:

Director Shivam kumar alongwith Neeraj Pandey ( who has written the screenplay) should have been more experimental with the film especially its climax. The first half of the movie is slow. The only good thing about the first half of the movie was Akshay Kumar’s entry. The second half too starts on a boring note but picks up when the team BABY steps in. The climax of the film is just predictale and this disappoints the most. Plastic surgery? seriously?

Music:

The songs of the film are pathaetic.

The song between Tapsee and her lover is tolerable but the other songs are disappointing and irritating.

Verdict: Watch this movie only if you’re interested in watching action packed films.

The movie is avoidable due to it’s slow tempo and mediocre performances.
