So it happened once again! This time, twice in a span of a week! Those who were pitching in for Sandhya Mudgal to win ‘Jhalak Dikhala Jaa’ weren’t exactly surprised when Prachi Desai won the contest. However, Aamir and Sanjida winning the coveted title in ‘Nach Baliye’ was a shock even to those who are used to the erratic ways of the TV channels
Isn’t it unpleasantly surprising that those whom the judges give the maximum marks and accolades are the very ones to be ousted from the show or to lose the contest? Are the judges not capable enough to judge pure talent or is the audience a fool not to recognize talent?
Well, neither is the case! It is just a big racket run by the channels! The judges are disappointed, the audience is fooled, the talented ones lose and the WINNER all the way out is the concerned channel! Pick up any- JUST ANY – reality show on any channel and you can easily see through.
Take ‘Jhalak Dikhala Jaa’ for example. Jai who could only flash his teeth and his pants(his choreographer was the only one who danced, he never did!) manages to find place in the last three! In the wild card entry, the superbly talented Sudha Chandran ‘fails’ to impress, while ‘Prachi’ ‘overshadows’ her! Sandhya’s progress is markedly noticed and praised by the judges. Technically, all her steps are perfect! BUT THE TROPHY STILL GOES TO PRACHI! Amazing!
The climax of this gory state of affairs is witnessed in ‘Nach Baliye’. The couple who scores full 30 marks not once or twice, but SEVEN TIMES, who is never reprimanded for any fault, who always comes up with new ideas of presentation is ousted by another couple, who is clearly a part of group lobbying and whose male partner cannot even move a leg well!
Come on, this was a dance contest and no one can deny that in any of the episodes, Rakhi-Abhishek were much much better that Sanjida. I wouldn’t even call Aamir a ‘dancer’. He just did not have a flexible body to move, let alone, dance! Talking about expressions(which is supposed to be the soul of a dance), his eyes and face always had the same shocked look throughout! Yet they win! Many expressed regret that Rakhi-Abhishek lost because of Rakhi’s ‘drama queen’ image. But isn’t this supposed to be a dance contest where the dance performance alone should matter?
As said earlier, the only clear winner is the concerned channel, followed by the mobile service providers and the advertising agencies.
Just look at it, the contestant’s who win are always ‘coincidentally’ the ones who are already a part of some or the other serial on the same channel.(Prachi, Sanjida, Aamir, …see what I mean!) So much for the promotion of their own serials, their own artists and their own channel. Secondly, greater the controversies, greater the TRPs! Higher the TRPs, more the advertisements!
And how are the mobile service providers going to earn so much if the audience did not send in so many SMSes! First you send SMS to vote for your contestant, then in case of a controversy, you SMS to ‘air’ your opinion. Wow! What a fantastic business idea!
So who wins here – the channel, the mobile service providers and the advertising agencies; and who loses – the talented contestants and the AUDIENCE!
Are we, as an audience, gullible enough to be fooled again and again? Can’t we see through this network of deceit? YOU ANSWER….
