This past summer I was getting quite tired of shaving my legs. I have dark hair so razor stuble is a big deal for me. Shaving every day or every other day was getting to be way to much of a hassle so I though I would try a cream hair remover in hopes that I would be able to eliminate my leg hair on a less frequent basis.
Since Nair has been around ever since I can remember I decided to give it a try.
I followed the directions to a T: Shake well and pour lotion into palm of hand. Smooth on thickly, but dont rub in. Leave on for 4 minutes. Some women may take longer but do not exceed 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with clear lukewarm water, use a wash cloth if necessary, do not rub, pat dry.
To my amazement the hair actually started to come off. I thought it was remarkable. There were a few straglers here and there but they were quickly removed with my razor.
Everything was great. My legs were hair free, silky and smooth. I was a happy camper. Until 4 days later.
4 Days later the hair started to grow back. It appeared that my hair follicles had been irritated so this was causing a lot of redness and itching. Especially in the bikini area and believe me this was not pleasant. I thought that perhaps my body just needed to get used to the stuff so I did the whole procedure again, after the initial itching and irritation went away. But the same thing happened the second time. That was enough for me I stopped using the product immediately.
I used the Cocoa butter and vitamin E formula. Since I used Cocoa butter a lot when I was pregnant and it did not irritate me, and I occasionally use vitamin E cream as well, I have to assume that it was not either one of those ingredients that caused the itching. I also must say that I have no known allergies and have never had any type of problem like this in the past.
If you are going to try this you may want to test it on a small area of your leg, and then wait a few days to see if you have any reaction to it. I have talked to a lot of women about what happened to me and most of them did have the same problem.
Right on the container there is a whole list of warnings and possible side affects, so use caution when trying this.
Ingredients:
Water, mineral oil, calcium hydroxide, urea, potassium thioglycolate, cetearyl alchohol, ceteareth-20, Cocoa butter, fragrance and yellow no 8.
In conclusion I would say that if you test it and it doesnt irritate you then you are a very lucky person. I loved the way it removed my hair, and how silky and soft my legs felt afterward. Of course I didnt like how they itched like crazy a few days later.
