Nalanda is a district of Bihar near Patna. I am reviewing this place because I know this place more than anything. Nalanda was the first capital of Magadh Empire and Magadh was almost whole India at that time so you can say Nalanda ( Rajgriha) was the first capital of India. It was the capital of India's wealth, wisdom and kingdom for around 500 BC TO 500 AD. We can't deny the participation of Magadh, Gupta and Maurya empires in making India the "Golden Bird".It was the period when Chanakya's teachings ruled India.
But now Nalanda is not known for this rich history, Nalanda is popular for the ancient Nalanda Mahavira, the foot steps of Buddha in Rajgir, Rajgir's beautiful valley and awesome five hills.
Nalanda is just 80 km away from Patna.
My Favourite Places in Nalanda:
1.Vishwa Shanti stupa, Ratnagiri Hill
2.Vulture's Peak
3.The Hot spring Hill ( Vaibhargiri) where the first meeting held after Budhha's Mahaparinirvana.
4.Ancient Nalanda Mahavihara and Archeological museum
5. Ghora Katora Lake
I have just mentioned the places, I would suggest to explore more around these places, you will get many beautiful life to appreciate and feel loved and awesome about yourself for no reason.
A cave on Vulture's Peak has always the Holy Book of Buddhism, I learned a lot from that book. I love the peace and tranquility around these hills. My favourite experience when I was playing flute on the top of Ratnagiri ( 2) , many cows came near me. I don't know but I really felt blessed. It is amazing to roam on these hills.
The best season is winter ( November to February) for Rajgir, Bodh Gaya, and Nalanda.
Why Should You Travel Here:
Rajgir is peaceful and very beautiful.
To be in touch with super positive energy radiating form hills.
Museum has sculptures and rich history of Magadh, Nalanda, Bihar and India.
I wish you to have an awesome Travel experience of Nalanda.
