A perfect mystery.

INTRODUCTION

The secret of the old clock is the first mystery that Nancy Drew solves. The attractive blonde haired girl has obtained her keen eyes and inquisitive nature from her tall and dignified father- Carson Drew- who is a very famous lawyer.

THE STORY

The book starts with a little girl meeting with a small accident, and Nancy rescuing her and carrying her back to her house. Nancy soon finds out that the little girl has no parents and lives with her aunts-the Turner sisters. The Turner sisters are poor, and say that they cannot afford to pay for their niece’s education much longer. By asking the Turner sisters a few questions, Nancy discovers that a man named Mr. Crowley (their good friend and well wisher who’s dead) had made a promise to mention their names in his will and let them have a good amount of money so that they would not suffer after he died.

But the will says that all his property should be left with the Tophams-an ungrateful family whom Mr. Crowley had not really liked.

This exciting mystery is about Mr Crowley’s new and undiscovered will. Its existence is uncertain, but many good-hearted people along with the Turners who suffer due to the old will are sure that Mr. Crowley has written a new will. Determined Nancy Drew has decided to solve the mind-boggling mystery of where the new will is hidden.

THE AUTHOR

Carolyn Keene has published 130 books. She wrote many individual mystery stories in her own name. She also wrote a prize winning book titled ‘Dangerous Deadline’. It won a prize in a national contest.

WHAT I THINK

‘The secret of the old clock’ and all other Nancy Drew books are lovely for youngsters. They keep you entertained from the start to the finish, and there is never a dull moment. You could read it a hundred times without getting bored one teeny bit.
