NANDANKANAN Zoological Park is Asia’s largest zoo, situated in the capital city BHUBANESWAR. It lies 12 kms from Jaydev Vihar Square towards Patia road. The road connected is very good and can be comfortably reached by any mode of travelling whether it be bike, car or bus service. Even OLA & UBER cab drive available at Bhubaneswar to take you to the gateway in 15 minutes of time.
It is one of oldest zoo of Odisha, but was rennovated after 1999 supercyclone that was the result for which lots of animals died and few were also transferred to other zoos all over Odisha for better care.
The Zoo contains lots of entertainment segments. The entire segments have to be covered up by walking. There are wild animals which include tiger, royal bengal tiger, lions, chimpanzees, variety monkeys, dears, bear and many more.
The reptile segments includes variety of snakes and pythons. Its entrance includes a 30 feet DINOSAUR MODEL which gives a great entertaining feeling.Lizards of different type also are attractive collection of zoo animals. There are lots of crocodiles of varieties and some small ones are also taken care of. There is birds segments having beautiful birds which can be well heard by their enchanting music. That mesmerises lots of domestic tourists.
Elephants along with there babies, rhinosaurus and hippopotamus again add beauty to the entertainment of the Zoo. Now zoo also contains special cell for Giraffe, zebra & Horses. Aquarium is there with lots of fish types which adds to the collection.
There is boating facility and you can enjoy with your family sweet boat ride along the artificial lake.
Lion Safari is again tourists most favourite part. The zoo administrator facilitates tourists to take a close view by the Lion safari to the interior of the park to have a clear view of the real wild life. You can get a good chance to view wild tigers , lions or any other animals and definitely a good place to take some wild pictures in action.
Rope way is additional feature which gives a beautiful & mesmerising top view of the botanical garden of the zoo and gives a very pleasurable experience of wildlife.
There are parks and playing spaces all over the zoo to make kids to enjoy everywhere. There is 3 D theatre to enjoy 3 D short movies. Stalls of snacks item are available for tea & snacks for kids. The overall trip may take a total day. So come prepared atleast once in lifetime. The zoo management have taken special care for all animals taking into account the importance of endangered species and park has reformed into a total fun package in recent years.
