I dont want to goto Nandhini again

I am not a person who likes to review, but today’s incident compels to me to.  Once I went to Nandini at RT Nagar, the service was poor and the tables were kept so close or something, the server was hitting my head with his plate when he passed by, once can be accident, repeat is no excuse. any way I thought may be due to congestion.


Today I went to Nandini near Frazer town with a nice appetite.  I had asked for spicy chicken gravy, the waiter suggested I can go for chilli chicken which will be semi dry.  expecting to get a nice dish, what I got was, chicken pieces in what I would call a thick soup.  Yes it was tasting more of capsicum than chicken or chilly for that matter and was thickened with cornflour.  I was not sure if what I got was what I ordered, so I asked him again, is this chilli chicken, server confirmed saying yes this is Andhra Chilli chicken, yes I was not sure, it didnt taste good for rice, it was more tasting like Chinese delicacy so I asked them to parcel it not wanting to waste it and asked them for a dry spicy chicken now they suggested guntur chicken dry.  this time something came, I was not sure again if it was same as it looked more like gongura chicken to me.


So I called the asst manager and asked him what is this chicken called- he said this is chicken fry, is  this guntur chicken - he replied "NO".  I asked him to verify with the server. we went and never came back.  I kept the chicken as it is after eating a piece.  when the bill came I said I am not paying for the chicken which is served called ’ guntur chicken’.  then the waiter brought the asst manager, who now had a enlightment that this was indeed guntur chicken and their hotel serves same dish in different colours. oh I got irritated when I heard this version. but still I kept my cool not wanting to lose my temper over a chicken.


I paid the amount, the change brought back was Rs 5 less.  so on the say back I saw the asst manager, asked him why he gave Rs5 less.(even though I am at liberty to keep the tips, they should have not assumed or not kept 5 less)  when I asked him, he gave me such a irritated face, that it really got be boiling as I am the one who was taken for a ride here and he gives me a look..i said, if this is the way staff behave, being in service industry is not good, is this the way the hotel works - he said "yes" I repied in anger " this will affect the business and said I am going to complaint". he asked in kannada " had your food" - meaning dont raise a issue after eating, this really made me even more angrier I am spending 500+ for a single person to eat a nice meal on saturday, and here is the so called asst manager telling me as if I was begging for food at his gates and what ever I had was his mercy and should not complaint...I raised my voice and said, I am not at your house, I am paying for the food I ask.(the manager then from the kitchen came and offered sorry and asked to excuse the asst manager)


the Service at Nandini really sucks.. Hope the management takes interest and trains its staff properly.


My suggestion, if you know the dish, if you had earlier at nandini and you liked it go and ask for it, else if you are new to the place and want to try new dish don’t ever go there, they will serve you the leftovers, mix what ever they get in their hands and pass it on as "Andhra food".  And you  always have the chance to be a victim of bad service once you enter the Nandini chain of Hotels
