I do not beleive that nobody has actually reviewed Napster!
Wake up everybody!!
Dont you see whats happening here??
Anyway...just for everybodys sake let me try and explain the basis of napster and what it stands for!
Napster is not primarily known for https://napster.com. It is known for the software napster which you get to download off https://napster.com (so mouthshut guys...it makes more sense to review the software napster and not https://napster.com...get it??)
What happens when you hit search in a web page??
That web page goes, hits its server and then reflects back results based on the query provided right??...The usual scene...no big shit.
Imagine a scenario, where, you hit search, it does go to a server but the results that get displayed have nothing to do wih the server.
huh??...what are you talking about??...where do results come up if they arent stored in the server??..
I guess this is very reasonable clarification to have.
Now, imagine this...
There are several people just like me who have Napster running in their machines. They also have shared folders, which can be specified.
Now after your search hits the sevrver..where does it go right??
Lets say..Ruchi from Mouthshut..searches for Michael learns to rock and song name is 25 minutes.
For Ruchis sake, I hope she doesntt search for a song like that....but once this search happens...ie. from the software that you have downloaded and installed into your PC...it goes straight to the napster server..which in turn quickly identifies which other various people have this song on their machine, (this is very easy..because you can share a particular folder through napster, remember??)and then refreshes all the users names who have this song on their machines.
After that you choose the user , then right click on the name, say download and soon you would have a fully uncut version of 25 minutes by Michael learns to rock.Ugh!
Now wasnt that easy!
So...whats all this big noise about Napster being illegal and all that shit??
See...Michael learns to rock is from some European country right??
And they have assumed that they are going to absolutely crack it by becoming pop stars and earn tonnes of money.
How??
By selling tonnes of Cds and tapes right??
Why would people buy these Cds and tapes??
Because they have songs like 25 minutes in them right??
Smart!!
Ruchi just got a completely authentic, uncut version of 25 minutes without paying a cent!!
So..if you have a choice of buying something and getting it free...what would you do??
If you prefer buying something...please go take some rest right away!!
Any total numbskull would want anything free if they could get it!
Welcome to Napster.
Napster has been sued by Metallica and Dr. Dre for violating coyright laws and illegal distribution of copyrighted titles!
Napster says f*** off....these songs are not on napsters server..they exist only on machines like Ruchis.
Whatever said and done...Napster is in a way promoting piracy of music..and the industry is getting affected...which is something we shoul;d all be thinking about.
But then.....like I said...when its free...I dont give a shit!
I can have unlimited access to almost any song in the world through napster..and beleive me..if you listen to lots of music...Napster is the best thing to ever happen to a music listener.
Sorry metallica and dr. Dre...and I know this sounds a little cliched at this point...but..
if you cant beat em...join em!!
Napster rulez!
