The Sultan of Ishq...

He is Mansoor Khan’s father, Aamir Khan’s uncle. But Nasir Husain was a filmmaker, a successful director.

What is more he understood young people’s thinking better than anyone else in Bollywood. It is strange that all his movies from’Tumsa Nahin Dekha’ upto’Manzil Manzil’ had more or less the same story.

It was all about a young man falling in love with a pretty girl & the difficulties therein. Most of it was about lost & found actually. But Husain sab was able to weave his story around the thnking of young people of the era to which the film belonged. He knew what the youth were thinking, their dreams, their aspirations, their failures & successes. His strong point was his packaging. What he brought to the table was polish, sophistication and certainly style. To this he added foot-tapping music(mostly by RD Burman), blindingly spectacular mounting and imaginative sets.

I think Nasir Husain gave the youth a point of identification-his audience liked his presentation of youth-connected issues in a format that was easy to comprehend and like.He never tried to make intelligent-sounding films;his strong point was candyfloss cinema. He made many movies but perhaps his best work is’Yaadon Ki Baaraat’.A lost & found category movie it had great visuals, fine music, attractive costumes and a lot of romance and lovey-dovey moments.A typical Nasir Husain after viewing which you probably felt happy and light.
