The Bamboozled Sardar

Cricket has had a steady fan following all around the globe. Batsmen, bowlers and fielders alike have been the favorites of many a die hard cricket maniacs such as me.

Sachin’s flamboyant batting, Mcgrath’s accurate bowling and Jonty’s magnetic fielding which have glued people to their television sets finally have a new contender, a force to reckon with……

Behold, ladies and gentlemen………………… the most vocal Sardar of Indian Cricket,

NAVJOT SINGH SIDHU

It is interesting to notice the waves Mr. Sidhu has created in the field of commentary, otherwise sidelined by the more active elements of the game. Not content with having successfully wielded the bat for the Indian team for almost a decade, Sidhu is back after a hiatus of about 4 years…… and how !!!

Confining himself to a much more comfortable spot in the cricket grounds than he was in earlier, Sidhu still lashes out at opponents, still entertains the crowd and still continues to captivate audiences, not with his batting but by his commentary.

Using words only found in the Webster dictionary, Sidhu transcends over the commentating fraternity merely with his command over the English language. ‘Bamboozling’ and ‘mesmerizing’ his way into our homes, Sidhu usage of extreme adjectives is one which the cricket world has done without for so long. It is noteworthy that having had no experience of commentating so far, Sidhu successfully wields the microphone with poise and confidence. A glimpse behind the scenes reveals that Sidhu not only entertains audiences but his fellow commentators as well.

Some excerpts from his commentary: -

’’ …the Sri Lankan batting line up is like a row of cycles, ……..one falls and the entire line collapses!’’

’’….and he’s hit the ball high in the air, and the ball has gone to meet the air-hostess!’’

( to fellow commentator Martin Crowe ) ’’…..and beware! The Bengal tiger is hungry, and he is going to have the kiwi for breakfast!’’

and now, for the real killer…..

’’….all this boils down to only ONE word, …….not buckling under pressure!!’’

With funny one-liners, hilarious anecdotes and extravagant adjectives, this ’’bamboozled’’ Sardar is certainly the next best thing to watch out for in another riveting game of cricket!

p.s..........Please……PUHLEEEEEEZ………comment on this one!!!
