A Brahmin, his wife, his widow daughter in law and grand daughter are living much away from cities in quite a lonely place. One day there spreads a news in the village that his son who had dies some 18-20yrs ago has been reborn in somw distant village near Mysore. The man brings the guy with him on the request of his wife. Its easy for someone to accept a stranger as their son but what about the woman who has to accept her as her husband?? So thats Kasarvallis Nayi Neralu(In the shadow of the Dog).
Excellent plott as it appears from whatever I have written above but whats more exciting is how delicately the director handles the sensitive issue. He doesnt let the Indian audience feel even in one scene that what he showing is unacceptable. One can feel every bit of the feelings the leading lady goes through. The script is as strong as the story however at few parts the movie appears to drag a bit. Small gestures used convey all the things the director wants to show in the scenes where there isnt a single dialogue. For example the scene where the lady is washind the clothes and the guy is putting flowers in the water to reach her.
The cinematography is yet another strong point of the movie which provides body to the the backbone-the story. It proves when one feels that he has really moved into the older times. The sound track is very soothing and just what the movie needed. Spectacular performances leave nothing negative to speak about eventually with the leading lady stealing all the show. Her expressions when she does not like to shave her head-off, her sweet dialogue delivery and later the glow on her face when she presents herself as a married woman and lastly as a protagonist all make her mark felt. One nominee sure for the years natinal award.
So Kannadigas!! Dont miss the movie. And every one should check out the movie in whatever way possible for not to miss a CLASSIC of Indian cinema. SO gyuz go get the DVD but hey not pirated okay :-)
