Neerja the most awaited movie of 2016 has really hit the box office as it was expected to. The lead role being portrayed by Sonam Kapoor as Neerja Bhanot was simply mindblowing. This is a biographical thriller film written by Saiwyn Quadras, and directed by Ram Madhvani also starring Shabana Azmi as Neerja’s mother and Shekhar Ravjiani as her boyfriend. The film was produced by Atul Kasbekar . The film revolves around the Libya backed Abu Nidal Organization’s hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Pakistan on 5 September 1986, specifically focusing on head purser Neerja Bhanot who thwarted the hijack attempt by preventing the plane from taking off, which resulted in the lives of 360 hostages being saved. It potrays the brave heart of Neerja, her excellent presence of mind and exceptional feelings of responsibility, love and faith. Here we also see how bravely she ( Neerja) fought against her own husband and then finally broke out of marriage.This is really a must watch for every husbands of this country too .They need to realize the hardships that their wives face. They might have their own dreams but they give up for their family. It’s really unfair. I feel Neerja is not only a story of a young woman fighting bravely with hijackers against terrorism it is also the story of that same girl fighting for her rights in her life. What a great simile the director has portrayed! Sometimes husbands do act as terrorists. Not everyone though. But people like Nirja’s first husband are there present in our society, we might even know them but we leave them. Instead of taking actions against those misogynistic terrorising men we react against the wife. We ask them to be patient and try to fit in till her last breath when we know what is right and who is to be blamed. Being giving away her life while completing her responsibility she has set an example for people round the world for bravery and strength of women.
