Neerja is an emotional and heart touching biopic of real life hero, a flight attendant Neerja Bhanot. The character is beautifully portrayed by Sonam Kapoor on screen. The heroic essay of Neerja has been narrated by her mother ( on screen played by Shabana Azmi) . The plot is simple yet a very strong where Pan Am Flight 73 gets hijacked by four armed terrorists of Palestinian Abu Nidal Group and a flight attendant Neerja Bhanot deals with the situation of rescuing the passengers onboard after the crew left them behind.
Why you should watch the movie: The movie carries the strong performances of actors like Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi and Yogendra Tiku. The director Ram Madhvani has very sensibly displayed the impact of a crisis on the person who goes through it and the impact on the lifes of the one who left behind. The movie leaves you with mixed emotions of feeling proud and heavy heart with its climax. The movie also touched the lighter moments of Neerja Bhanot like her love and affection for Rajesh Khanna. There is also strong display of support and Self respect shown by Neerja’s Parents when they stand by her daughter during Bad marriage relation. The movie leaves you with a proud feeling on a rare act of heroism shown by a simple Indian girl which earned her bravery accolades from three different countries including Pakistan.
My Rating: 4 stars : This is one movie which you should not miss due to its strong plot and performance. The movie is a must watch with friends and family especially for the younger generation to get inspiration from the extraordinary life of an ordinary Indian girl named Neerja Bhanot.
